One reason I almost didn't get Moto G was a lack of an microSD slot. Now, not feeling so bad as USB OTG works out of the box.

Does the UK version have OTG enabled, I can't seem to get it to work and can't find any settings related to it??

Do you have Nexus Media Importer or Total Commander installed? You probably need one of those.

I use a file manager to open the files and play a video file with MX player. Then the player will see the file.

How about that! You mention that one just as I was downloading the full version. Which works perfectly, just in case anyone wanted to know.

So, the moral of the story is: USB OTG, yes, standalone, no. An app like the above is needed to make it work (with a stock Moto G, that is)

Thinking of getting this: Mini MicroSD Card Reader by Meenova
$15 which converts to around ?8 since I'm in the UK, takes up to 64GB, perfect for when I'm on a long trip.

Reading from the link and found this-
Note on Moto G: read-only access; root is required to write to USB storage.
** Note on Moto X: 4.4 update for Moto X disables external USB storage access; now it requires third-party software or root to access USB storage, similar to Nexus devices.-

I have not gotten KitKat yet.

So has anyone got Kitkat on the Moto G to check if OTG is gone? That's what happened with Moto X.
