Moto G5 Plus

I have a Moto G5 Plus and use Textra for messaging. Been using it for years with no problems.
Then two days ago I was answering a text and then closed Texta and opened it again , like always, and was greeted with all phone numbers that are usually in my Contacts. So I closed Texta and opened Contacts and No Contacts were found. Been searching for the answer but have not found one yet. Thanks for any help.

Hi, you can try clear its cache and force stop.it see if everything comes back

I'm not entirely clear on what's going on -- are you saying that when you open the stock Contacts app, nothing shows up any more?

Does this persist after a reboot as well?

In my Contacts were all phone numbers with names and now there is no phone numbers or names.
The numbers without names and colored circles with a # in each are now in Textra Messaging App when you open it .
Where as before the Textra Messaging App had the first letter in the colored circle and a name in the text would tell me who sent the text.

Which did you clear Textra or contact app?

Were the contacts saved to your Google account, the local Phone account, or some other account? If you go to contacts.google.com on your computer browser, do you see any of your contacts there?

I cleared both 645KB in the Contacts and 824KB in the Textra , then I shut down the phone and restarted and it didn't make any difference , still the same.

I don't want to clear the Data because I don't have a backup of when it was operating good . I think if I backup now it will not have all the same data as before , so that's not an option I want to do ...

Do a back up anyways , and before you do see when it was last back up

Yes, I just went to contacts google site you mentioned and I see 97 Contacts there , so there seems to be some hope now.

Ok, on your phone, go to Settings>Accounts>Google, and make sure your Contacts sync toggle is still turned on.

With the Setting>Accounts>Google , I show Accounts and below that are 2 of my Gmail Accounts.
When I tap the 3 Vertical Dots in the upper right it opens with "Sync Now" , I did not tap Sync Now at all , in case this is now right. Where do I find the Contacts sync to see if it still turned on ?

I think I see where we are going with the Google Contacts and the Contacts are probably going to be transferred over to the Contacts on the Phone ,,, but the other question I have is , What happens to all the Text messages in Textra Messenger with all the phone numbers as such , will they still be there or will they all be gone ???

If you have your native message app switch to that and make back up , im.not sure if textra has its own

Ok check it out , otherwise use your stock message app to back up and then can go back to textra.

Once this is all straighten out and running in good working order , my job is just starting because I still have to find out , How it happened , Why it happened , and Who's fault it was Textra Messanger or Moto G5 Plus .

Did you see where the toggle is? Select the Google account in question, then tap the Account Sync option. You should see all of the possible things you can toggle sync for.

For this, go to Settings>Apps​, select Textra, then Permissions. Does it have Contact permission turned on?

Ok, in Textra Permissions the Contacts was turned OFF , so I turned it back ON now.

Wow, the battery is running LOW on my Phone now so I am going to put it on Charge and take a break for tonight and resume sometime in the tomorrow morning.
