Moto G5 Plus

I have a Moto G5 Plus and use Textra for messaging. Been using it for years with no problems.
Then two days ago I was answering a text and then closed Texta and opened it again , like always, and was greeted with all phone numbers that are usually in my Contacts. So I closed Texta and opened Contacts and No Contacts were found. Been searching for the answer but have not found one yet. Thanks for any help.

Ok, in Textra Permissions the Contacts was turned OFF , so I turned it back ON now.

I think that's a possible fix what you suggested, but we find out tommorow.

1. To back up what's on Google Contacts, you can export (bottom of the left column) right from the site. If the contacts disappear, the backup file will get them back.

2. To back up texts (not proprietary format - SMS type texts) use SMS Backup & Restore.

(Almost everything can be backed up before you do something that might get rid of it.)

Well nothing has changed even with the Contacts now turned ON in Textra . So back to square one.

Want to say hello to Rukbat and yes I like to back up everything if possible just in case something goes wrong. Textra has both SMS and MMS (for pictures) and from what I have been reading most SMS backups will not do MMS , so a little problem there.

Want to say hello to Rukbat and yes I like to back up everything if possible just in case something goes wrong. Textra has both SMS and MMS (for pictures) and from what I have been reading most SMS backups will not do MMS , so a little problem there.

Can you confirm no issue on the native text app ?
Because if you don't have it disabled and delete data in textra they should all be in your stock app

It's just I don't know who's phone number goes with who's name. Also in the Contacts I have NO Phone Numbers.

Well I just enabled the App Messages and waited until it finished calculating then opened the App and it was empty.
No texts or names or phone numbers. The only thing I can say it looked like was the Contacts that is suppose to have all the above but does Not.
I have also been surfing different forums to see if my problem has ever happened in the past and it has.
I ran into the forum AndroidForums and found some people had , what appears to be the same thing , back in 2016-17.
Several things were tried and some worked of some but not for others. The thing is it seems to be with a lot of different makes of phones too.

Ok so something really off , I would start making a back.up with rukbat suggestions on that app, it won't do picture so any important ones use Google drive or Google photos and store them there , they just won't be back in text messages back up. This looks like it will end up going factory reset .

Try one more thing , go to settings >accounts > you see your Google account? Look for back up and tell me last time and what things mention back up ?

Well I was thinking of staying with the Moto Line and looking at the Moto G Power.

Well I got a semi fix to the problem. Went to the Google Contact site saw all 93 Contacts there Connected my phone up with a USB to my computer and phone found a sync button clicked it and it did a quick transfer of the contacts but on the bad side it only transfer 19 of the 93 Contacts. So I will have to settle for that and I don't know what happen to all the rest of them but at least I got it to work.
So I will have to leave it as SOLVED. . .

At least you know it's back up.in google cloud , maybe log out your google account on the device then log back in

I am going to have to do some more research on some interesting items I came across : Export to a .VCF file and same to a CSV file.
Also backup to a SIM card and a SD card. If I get a chance I may try all 4 ways , just for practice , and I will also have Spares in case anything goes wrong.
But the First thing I have to do is BACK UP those 93 Contacts on the Contacts Google Com site that I can get to from the Desk Top Computer.
In the meantime I think I will take a break from looking at this computer screen and do something else.
