Moto g6, talking calendar won't talk

There may be something wrong in Settings, but I can't find the problem. The Talking Calendar Lite by Kashzift Studio app worked for about 60 days then it went silent. I deleted the app and reloaded it five times. It still rings a chime at each assigned notification (30 min. before, 1 hour before, etc.) but it doesn't speak. For me, the momentary chimes are too quiet and too brief, even though I turned up all the volumes. TY for pointers.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already contacted the app developers? They'd be the first people to ask. If they're not already aware of this issue, then I'm sure they'd appreciate knowing about it.
