Moto G8 power lite will NOT switch off

[Android Central Question]

I got a G8 power lite around 3 months ago. Really like it and like most people it stays on most of the time, however at weekends I generally switch off completely at night to avoid having left any alarms or alerts on. Here lies the problem:

To shut the phone down I hold the power button until the options to Power Off, Restart or Screenshot appear. Selecting Power Off merely restarts my phone. I initially thought I had absent mindedly hit the wrong option but I've been through it multiple times and it looks to have gone off and in about 30 seconds it restarts.

The screen is in pristine condition so I don't think it's anything related to that. It's very frustrating as I have a phone I can literally not turn off!

Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this only happen when the phone is plugged in, or does it also happen when it isn't?

Have you noticed any problem with the Power button?

Also, try switching off Bluetooth first.
