I just opened this as a Christmas present from my wife and it had zero juice left. It didn't even light up one testing light.

Should I be concerned?

Merry Christmas everyone...

Good to hear. It is possible that with all the new Lion battery shipping regulations that they have to ship them without a charge in them.

As the mod is charging the main battery, how low will it go before stopping or is there no discharge protection circuitry?

Mine goes to 0% indicated, don't know really what the state of the battery is when that is displayed.

I just bought the moto power pack. Put it on my phone and charged over night. I don't get any lights when I push the power button on the inside. Does that mean this thing is dead?

It's dead. Out of the box. Sending back.
Is it visible on your phone? If not the Z3 may not have recognized it. Remove any case/bumper and attach. I had to actually turn off my phone and attach my 360 camera and then turn it on to get the mod to be recognized, after that it was fine. Just a thought before you return it.

I don't understand what you mean by "visible on [my] phone." I don't see anything when it is attached. I tried shutting my phone off, then back on, and I still don't see anything related to a mod connected. Not even sure where to look.

I cant stress enough about removing the bumper if you have one, the Verizon bumper has to be modified for most mods to fit properly

Here's what you should see in Settings->Battery

Thanks guys. I don't have a bumper case on yet. I never saw anything like what you are showing. I reread bill-e post, so I turned my phone off and put the battery on while it was off (last time I turned the phone back on before I put it on). Attached battery and have not turned phone back on. Plugged it in and now there are 2 circles showing charging levels. That must have been the trick. I'll see in a few hours after it charges if this did the trick.

I'm trying to stretch out the life on my Force Z. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is I have hard time seeing the screen in the daylight, even with the brightness set to 100%.

The Verizon bumper works just fine, out of the box, with this 2200 mAH battery mod.

I've read and participated in enough posts to know that the bumper (which I have 3 of) can be an issue when trying to get mods to work for the first time. Having said that, when I'm helping someone troubleshoot and I obviously don't know either their situation or technical prowess I always start with telling them to remove the bumper.

Well, my conclusion is that this battery pack is dead because it doesn't show up in the Battery settings like you guys showed above. Amazon has a new one on the way.

babracmmm, just one more thing that might be helpful if the new mod gives you issues. This is from a Z Force with a working power mod.
