My friend has a moto phone, and for some reason, when ever he updates the phone, the notification ringer resets back to default. I've sent in an ask already, but the constant hearing of that phone going off is making me wanna snap it. The same also happens with do not disturb, the phone just turns it back off afterwards. Is there anything we can do? He got the phone last year, neither of us understands why it does this. Do we need to call the manufacturer?

You posted in the Moto G forum -- can you clarify the exact model name/number of the phone? You can find the model number in Settings>About Phone.

Do you know if your friend is using a custom ringtone that's saved to an SD card?

Ok, just to be sure -- you're talking about the ringer volume, and not the actual ringtone selection, right? I saw from your other post that you decrease the volume, but it resets to the normal volume at some point, either after the phone updates or after midnight?

I wonder if the phone is doing an automatic restart every night. That's a feature that's included in most Samsung phones, but I'm not aware of it being available for Moto -- does your friend have a 3rd party automation app like Macrodroid installed?

No he doesn't have macrodroid installed.
He claims that this is the third phone to do this, but I don't think that part is true.

I can't think of anything further that's causing this unless he's the one turning it back on

Does he know you're adjusting settings on his phone, and if so, is he ok with it? There are certainly people who can be very possessive about their phones, and therefore get quite upset if someone else has been fiddling with them.
