Moto Razr, or Nexus Prime?

Those of you talking about the GNEX not having gorilla glass, Samsung posted on facebook that it would have a different type of fortified glass, just not the Gorilla glass brand. I personally am not that concerned about it.

With a lot of people concerned about it, and it being a selling point why don't they use it as such? Seems like that would be a no brainer to me.

How do you still not know if the gnex has a removable battery when it has been shown all over the internet that it is removable?

D.J.

What?! Seriously, every document I've seen has either said it wasn't removable or "Unknown". Even in Phil's posts and another post comparing the 2 phones it said unknown. Show me a document!

You have good points about the differences between the two. But the nexus battery is removable. And I disagree about the looks of the devices. IMO all MOTO Android phones have been butt ugly from the OG up till the RAZR. That square robotic design gotta go. The Nexus streamlined and although its big it looks like it'll just fit perfectly in your hand. MOTO phones are too blocky to me.

Ahh okay well then I guess it comes down to indivdual user tastes in the exterior look of phones. That's why we have many different manufacturers and phones of different styling and look. But to me, the iPhone and it's boring plain rectangular and bland look is a turn off to me. Sadly I think Samsung took a cue from that when they made the Nexus. Yeah it's corners are curved a little but it's just bland after that. Whereas I think the Razr has some futuristic and attractive styling. Right down to the thinness and the kevlar fiber backing. It's darn sexy if you ask me, lol. I don't have any disrespect towards anyone's tastes. That's why they say to each his own. There should be variety to cater to all our tastes. Carry on.

After looking through that Engadget photo gallery I notice something I didn't before. No HDMI out port on the Nexus. I only see a power port and 3.5mm jack. That's another point for Razr for me. I like the idea of being able to HDMI out to a TV and showing pictures or video to family during the holidays. I've always wanted to do that but with a small screen, even 4.3 or 4.6 inches is small to show a large group of people pictures, video, or even something on the web.

Plus with the Razr, there is that option to buy the Moto Lapdock. I like having that option.

Gnex uses MHL port, its HDMI compatible, you'll need a adapter like the microHDMI

Agreed, but maybe they couldn't curve it for a few reasons... Did, that other phone have gorilla? The galaxy S or whatever

the Nexus S 4G for sprint, no it did not have GG.

I've heard conflicting reports about its scratch resistance.

I think Ive made up my mind.. I know its early considering the nexus doesnt even have a firm release date yet.. but I like the idea of getting the Razr.. I told myself 2 things with my next smartphone purchase.. it will not be a samsung phone, and it will have to have the absolute most recent update of Android on it AT RELEASE.

Well with the current landscape its not possible for me to follow through with both of those things.. but I am excited to see how well motorolas hardware holds up.. I'm looking forward to a better GPS and possibly even better signal.

I figure that ontop of the confirmed GG+Nanocoating it will meet my durability requirements.

And ICS will be available soon enough, and I'll still have what I consider the benefit of hardware buttons (software buttons will dissapear on ICS phones with Hardware buttons).

The main things I lose in this choice are its not PURE android (bummer), and its a non-removable battery..

The Rarz does have some nice accessories. If it came as a pure Google device, my choice would be even harder. It depends on what you want. When I see the Razr's interface it reminds me of the Bionic, with the Motoblur (which is not a bad thing). However I will like having ICS.

I can't wait for the comparison test on Youtube.

A few days ago I told myself if the Razr came out on the 27th (in store) I'd get it. But Nov 10th? Seems silly to not just wait another week or two. I've been phone less for a month now (I have a work phone) so time is of the essence ... lol

DROID RAZR Pre-Orders Sell Out Online Already? - Droid Life

claiming $249 price tag for those upgrading or adding a new line

if legit, i wonder if that is in addition to the $50 credit on my next upgrade, and wouldn't that be swell if the nexus got the same treatment

edit: looking through the comments, looks like that discount might not be true

Yea it states that.. but where on verizons site do they mention anything about 249.99?

It even says $299.99 in the screenshot on droid-life.com (and the article doesnt eliberate on the $249.99 deal whatsoever)

I went through the pre-order process this morning.. was def $299.99..

EDIT:

Just spoke to Verizon Wireless customer support.. it is most certaintly $299.99...

If someone gets it for $249.99 I guess they are lucky.. I cant complain I paid 1 penny for my Fascinate only a year ago.. its about time I pay for some hardware.

I'm thinking the $249 was a typo, because $299 is the upgrade and new contract price, otherwise you pay full price.

On Verizon, if you're upgrade eligible, you receive an extra $30-40 off of a phone's 2-year price. In other words, you should only have to pay $250-260 for a phone listed at $300 for others that are not yet eligible for that discount.

I feel like the screen size is just way too big for a phone on the Nexus. I have the droid X and I can't see myself comfortably using a phone that is even bigger.

Given the dev community around motorola phones and root basically nullifying bloatware and blur, I will be going with the RAZR.

With the razr dont discount the lapdock accessory. I have one for my photon. Like sprint, verizon doesn't require tethering. Thus if you aren't getting a tethering plan it's an awesome accessory to have. I use mine at the park (have a kid who obviously loves the playground) to get some work done. Even if you only use the 3/4g data a couple times a month it is worth it. Again though if you shell out for a tethering plan there is no point, but I think a lot of people like me don't want to pay the extra fee but do want to occasionally use wireless data on a netbook or laptop.

Got this link from another post and saved it because it's awesome HTC Amaze 4G Visual Size Comparison
Pick the phone you want to compare and then you can lay them on top of each other to compare sizes, as you will see size should not be used to pick between these two phones.
