moto x+1 unveiled Sept 4th???

Re: No public news on X+1 until tomorrow 9/5 (possibly 1:30pm CDT)

So basically when most people are asleep. lol

Yeah, it's a rly weird time to announce products imo. I'll probably stay up for it though.

Re: Motorola Event

that I know, though the press could have said something like "we're here, and we'll be able/allowed to report everything to you tomorrow or on 9/5"

Sounds like none of the press sites even knew what was going on. They may have only found out they they cant release info as they got there - idk. As I read somewhere here, another site "guessed" it would be same situation as last year's launch.

But Moto is in the wrong because you assumed it would be handle one way when Moto never said it would be anything more than what they announced.

Motorola invited the press to their Chicago campus. All the invite said was:

Choose to join us

September 4th

Motorola Chicago
At the Merchandise Mart

Keep an eye on your inbox for registration and details

They either meant PM or they are announcing their new portfolio when people in Europe are waking up and Asians are already half way done with their day... I'm thinking the time on Twitter is a mistake though.

Yup, you're probably right. Hopefully it gets clarified before I stay up till 2AM on a work day.

Re: Motorola Event

Ah, this is a bummer. I've been waiting for Moto's event for awhile. The X+1 is my most anticipated Android device of the year. If it speeds up, grows a bit, and offers a better camera, it'd be perfect.

...speeds up? The current Moto X doesn't lag.

Re: No public news on X+1 until tomorrow 9/5 (possibly 1:30pm CDT)

All I wanna do is give them my money. Why are they making it so hard for me to give them my money?

Re: Motorola Event

Yes, Motorola is in the wrong ... very poor and inadequate information. They have a very active Twitter feed, and all they needed to do is explain that today was press only, and that tomorrow is the public event. They finally explained today, but they know who's following their Twitter feed all these weeks, and it isn't just the press ... it's all of us. It's dopey little PR snafus like this that can really hurt momentum, and they are so easy to avoid!

Motorola invited the press to their Chicago campus. All the invite said was:

Call it how you'd like - I think both moto and the tech sites were off.
I think many tech sites led us to believe there's an event sept 4th, and that we would know more at that time.

here's text from AC's own post...
"We'll be live from Chicago on Sept. 4 to bring you all the latest from Motorola."
Motorola holding September 4 event, Moto 360 + new phones inbound | Android Central

I don't think I was among few who misunderstood or assumed different. There are many out there who thought the same way. However, to put the brakes on this issue, moto could have made it clear to press via invites that the event is on the 4th and that info for public can only be shared day after. Then, the tech sites could let all of us consumers to wait for the 5th. After all, it is the public who will be the consumers and not the press.

I'm not one to be "totally devastated" by the news. Slightly disappointed - yes. Still on the same thunderbolt I got 3+ years ago. One more day as well as waiting to the rumored date of 9/25 won't kill me. :)

The only thing Motorola did wrong was not put an NDA on their press invite. Tech sites then assumed it would be like everyone else's events when in reality, it's just like last year.

If really AM, then I expect Moto G announcements first. Maybe Moto X hits international markets sooner too.

I'm not sure about you, but Motorola made it pretty clear three weeks ago that the event is press only. It wasn't like they announced on their twitter, Facebook, website, or fan emails that there will be a big live event or anything today. In fact, last year Motorola did press only unveiling of the moto x. If you expected more from an event intended for press only then you are wrong and you will have to wait like the rest of us here in this thread. Who knows, maybe Phil can shed a light later on today of the items presented today. I'm pretty sure he brought cameras to show us those nice beauties.

I wasn't going to say anything else, but if Motorola had made it clear, we wouldn't be having this conversation! I love Motorola ... I've been rooting for them ... we've had a Moto X in the house for months ... and I have no problem waiting a few more hours. C'mon, we're talking about a cell phone or watch ... not exactly a matter of life and death. But, the whole thing could have been easily avoided.

Re: Motorola Event
