It could show on the lock screen, some times on the top bar, or when you head to network signal in settings.

Mine shows Network = Verizon Wireless.

on the bottom of the back your phone will say the model
For example mine is Model:XT1053 which is the t-mobile aka unlocked version.
Google your model to find out which carrier the phone is for
