Moto X 2014 Leather or wood?

Re: Leather or wood?

I've had an ebony wood-backed Moto X for about 7.5 months without at case and it's held up very well including a few drops on pavement and asphalt. No scratches.

Could you post pics? I'm tipping towards the ebony.

Wood with out question! I personally might stick it out with the plastic if I decide to get it.

Re: Leather or wood?

It seems more acceptable to have worn leather; wood not so much IMO.

Bamboo is soft and it seems it would get dinged up, scratch or fray easily. While I like some of the other wood backing, I didn't care that they are more like imitation wood (Yes, I'm aware they are made of wood; but not cut from the actual woods they mimic).

So I'd rather just go with the leather because I like how it looks more vintage as it ages. However, after trying to decide between bamboo and leather, I've decided to just go with the white polycarbonate backing because I'm anal about scratches on my phones (though more acceptable to me on leather). The white is high contrast and any wear (i.e. scratches) shouldn't be too noticeable and it'll likely have a better resale value. Dirt and grime should easily wiped off since I'm assuming it's not soft touch as with the first gen Moto X.

Plus there's a review (I believe the verge) that mentioned that the leather on their backing was already peeling off. That made the choice for me not to deal with the leather backing. Also, if I choose to sport a case I wouldn't have to worry about any fitting issues given that the leather is soft and it would be difficult for some cases to keep solid fit.

So I ordered white polycarb, 32GB, white front (again because black front has anodized metal frame and the finish can scratch off; recall the black iPhone...), and silver accents (again because I don't like anodized metal finishes). It looks classy, high-tech, modern and clean to me. I got the Gellicase by Case Mate in smoke (again, cosmetics and durability/longevity matter to me. The frost/white version will likely yellow in time).

Now I have about a month wait time before it arrives in the mail. I'm so hoping I don't end up with a crap screen of uneven color, dead or hot pixels... my other pet peeve...
