Moto X 2014 Orders delayed?

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Ordered on VZW promo yesterday (10/19) & scheduled for delivery 10/30: 32 GB/Leather Cognac/Black/Metallic Dark Gray. Appears they've tightened up the delivery times some.

Figure I should have it right around the Turbo announcement time and will 14 days from them to decide if it's a keeper.

fyi:

Ordered mine on 10/18 and the expected arrival date was 10/29. Spoke to Motorola several times via chat and they insist that it has not shipped yet. Verizon tells that it has shipped and provided a FedEx tracking number. This morning I get on the horn with Motorola and they insist that Verizon is wrong.

Get on the phone this evening with Verizon to see who is right. Motorola finally concurs that I will receive the unit tomorrow. In summary, do not go by what Motorola says. You might want to contact your carrier for more accurate information.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

@tech_fan Thanks for the heads up. I'll contact Verizon tomorrow. Just checked the VZW website and it doesn't show anything about my upgrade/renewal at all. Guess it's hard to complain about faster turnaround, but shipping without notice is kind of a problem ... and apparently a Motorola specialty.

Is the royal blue soft touch material or smooth?

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I'm hoping part of the delay fixed the peeling wood and leather issue people have posted pics of. But my guess is its simply high demand.

just got off the phone with Customer Service. My phone has been delayed for weeks. I placed the order the first of October, but expected delivery isn't until Oct. 29th.

They confirmed that they have seen the problem and complaints about the backs peeling, and this is why orders have been delayed, that they have addressed the production problems regarding this, making orders get pushed back.

I, for one, am OK with my phone coming a few weeks later if they have taken the time to fix the production issues and ensure that my phone comes in perfect condition.

We shall see.

Absolutely. I was already continplating returning if need be. I ordered on the 18th with delivery on the 29th. This is actually great news. Like you, I don't mind waiting for a correctly assembled phone.

According the information posted by the moderator type (Matt) on the Motorola Moto X (2014) forum, the only soft touch back is the black. All other colors are the smooth harder material. You can read the thread there.

I have the Purple and think it's fairly smooth, but a nice feel in the hand. Of course I always put a case on mine... purple of course.

Unlike Firedogee, I don't think it's a figure print magnet while it's was not in it's case.... but he only played with it a short time before his wife told him to return it.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Just thought I'd add my own info to the list...

Ordered on Thursday afternoon, 10/16. Black/bamboo/bronze/32gb Pure version. Original estimated delivery date was Friday, 10/24. It arrived unexpectedly (i.e., no email or notification) yesterday, 10/20. That's four days after I ordered it, including build time. Granted, I live in Austin which is just down the road (relatively speaking) from the Dallas plant, but still, I think we can safely say any delays they were experiencing are long done.

Got email from Motorola today saying it shipped for delivery Friday 10/24.

Correction - my very objective, intelligent (and gorgeous) wife confirmed the obvious:

The new Moto X is inferior to the upcoming Droid Turbo in every single category except aesthetics. This is so obvious that neither one of us needed more than a few days (especially with all the Moto Voice and other bugs) to determine this. I maintain that the Royal Blue back is the worst finger print magnet of any phone I've owned.

Ps. For all you folks that value aesthetics over function - how many of you are carrying your Moto X around daily with a protective case blocking out all of its only real appeal over the Turbo... Beautiful exterior design???

All you have to do is wait another month or two and the Droid Turbo will be out done by the next big thing... all you have to do is wait a little longer.

I do... it's a purple case covering a purple back. If I want to show it off, I just remove the case which take a whole 5 seconds... it's not as big a deal as you make it out to be since I do that with EVERY device.

Many good points. We're mostly in agreement. Considering the X and Turbo will have the same size screen and very similar dimensions - for me it's a no brainer to go with the Turbo - with the superior specs and same Moto apps. Aesthetics is the only reason to consider the X and as you said, most people have to remove their case to enjoy that one benefit.

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

I think what we're looking at now is the last generation of 32 bit phones. All will be quite outdated in 12 months. I'm excited to read the turbo reviews but I also know myself and realize I will buy a brand new flagship phone next fall regardless of whether or not I grab a turbo in the next few months.

I really like the Moto X. I really like the turbo specs. I really hate droid branding. I really like big batteries. I like the way my x looks. I'm iffy on the qhd screen (I think the turbo would be better in real life, if not in marketing material, with a 1080 screen).

Also figure for the (assumed) price difference vs the DROID turbo you could get the 2014 x, two turbo chargers, a case or two on amazon, and the nice moto warranty.

So I'm pretty much right on the fence.

Good thoughts. Did you see that Droid Life tweeted out prices of 199/599 for the Turbo. That's only $40.00 more than I paid for my new (and already returned) Moto X. If that pricing holds true, then it makes the decision that much easier for me, having already decided on the Turbo. I've had this POS Droid Razr M for over two years and I'm not concerned about 64bit so I'll probably keep the Turbo for at least 3 years... Assuming I'm still around then. Lol

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

Welp, here's my experience with Motorola's [language removed by Moderator] service.

TL;DR - Motorola is a lying, insecure, cheap company, don't order from them unless you have months to spare waiting for your device, and lots of patience talking to customer service.

I just want to warn everyone, do NOT order anything from Motorola. I ordered a Moto X 2nd Gen last week and have spoken to customer service several times. Motorola has a 2-hour return policy. After two hours you're no longer allowed to cancel your order, so no matter how they screw up and lie to you, you HAVE to buy their product. I was told I would get my phone ON or BEFORE today (Monday November 24th, 2014), then I was told by a customer service member that there was a delay on shipping, and they had no date for when it would ship (this turned out to be wrong, the supervisor checked and the rep was wrong). The supervisor told me I was going to get my phone on or before 11/24, and that sometimes the phone wouldn't ship until 2 days before the delivery date, but I would still get it on time. After not getting a shipping confirmation as of today, I spoke with customer service again, and was told that the phone hasn't even shipped yet!! Unless it's shipped today I won't get the phone before the Thanksgiving holiday, as they work with FedEx two-day shipping. The rep today said it "should ship AROUND this week." So now I am paying Verizon for at least 2 weeks or service I couldn't use (I'm pretty sure they started the billing period as soon as I ordered the phone, not sure, though), and paid $105 to Motorola to get a phone and then be lied to constantly. Also of note is the fact that their website is anything but secure, using cookies to keep your login information so that it's "easier" to log in. In reality you click login and are automatically logged in. With credit cards and billing information on my account, I'd like some security, like, I don't know, maybe having to type in my password if my phone or computer gets lost/stolen?!

Re: Moto X Orders delayed?

When I ordered my Moto X 2014 I placed the order on Oct 2,2014 and had it in my hands Oct 24,2014.I did call a couple times to check on it. When I ordered the phone I did not sign in to order it. I ordered it under "guest". I did sign up for on the Fedex delievery manager so maybe I would know when the package was sent to Fedex.Sure I was wanting it sooner ,reading of others getting theirs.I always got the FedEx messages about my package before the Moto messages. But I did get the Moto messages just after FedEx.

I dont think you will be charged anything by vzw before you get your phone but not positive.

I hope you get your phone before the holidays
