Moto X 2014 Post your end of day battery screen shots

No Wi-Fi today, all LTE. 35 min of calls, some Spotify, stream 10 minutes Amazon prime videouploadfromtaptalk1412058807431.jpguploadfromtaptalk1412058817522.jpg, played 25 min of music off the cloud, 25 min NPR broadcast stream, 30 min Runtastic.

Oops on the screen capture, didn't notice it was missing the run time. I shut down the phone after posting last night and did not charge it. So this morning should almost equal end of day last night.

I don't know why Wi-Fi shows either. I had turned Wi-Fi off yesterday before unplugging the phone and it still is off.

An interesting topic - and WHY are we doing this? Because we don't want to believe all the reviews that tell us the battery life is not up to par with other similar tier 1 smartphones (I read / hear (video) that at the end of the day we'll all be looking for AC outlets to charge - depending of course on our daily usage). We need to prove all the reviews were wrong! So come on, I too, really wanted the New Moto X, and am having real second thoughts due to the battery, display, no SD card, and on and on. Perhaps we there are enough people that post great numbers here, we'll all think all the reviews are wrong. What we don't see, is the reviewers have access to all phones, and they can compare equally. We have 1-2-3 phones to compare to, and most likely they are different phones. Yes, I'm now looking at the S5, and the iPhone 6. I'd really like to stick with Android, but I need to purchase the phone that's best to me, considering all factors. I don't think the new moto X is the one for me. IF ONLY... a better battery, a better camera, an SD card for storage - this would be a great phone!

I'm giving mine a few more days before coming to a final conclusion, but subjectively - I am getting the same amount of battery life with this phone I did with the 2013 Moto X. Whoever posted it gets better after the first couple of days held true for me, since the first day was disappointing, but it seems to have settled down, I guess and I'm going well into the second day before having to charge - just like my first X. My screen on time varies, depending on what I'm doing, whether it's a work day or whatever, but right now my phone has been 1d 14h 35mn 40s on battery and has 26% of juice left. I've been on half wifi and half LTE and used Drive Assist (or whatever Moto's calling it now) with GPS three times for 30 minutes each time, read emails, texted, had about four phone calls, read some news with a couple of my news apps and played with a couple of the settings - not heavy use, but typical for me during the week when I'm working.

Again - it's all subjective, but it's pretty much the same battery life I was getting with the 2013 Moto X. I could comfortably go a day and a half until I started watching to see if I needed to put it on the charger or not - often waiting until I got home from work.

It's certainly not better than the original, but it's comparable - so I'm okay with that.

Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I charge my phone at night, its at 100% when I go to bed.
Today I had One call that was 36 minutes. and some texts here and there. maybe 20 total so far today.
I do run the screen at 100% brightness but I do that on Every phone I have ever had.
I have barely over ONE hour on on screen time and I am at 37% at 3pm...

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I don't know why you are complaining. you still have 37% battery left and you are running at 100% brightness, its an amoled screen already, If you ran it at 50% it should be plenty bright. You have had 14 hours of standby time. May be you get 2 hours of screen on time and with 100% brightness, its actually pretty good. I don't consider that a bad battery life.

Just curious why you run it at 100% brightness, do you work outdoors?

Nothing more needs to be said.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

Everyone has different usage of ANY smartphone... everyone!!! And yet someone will always complain about their battery.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

damn I also have my phone set to the lowest brightness. I wish my phone (2013 moto x) could be dimmer.

The only time I crank the brightness is outdoors on a sunny day. I hit the auto on my widget

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I do not consider 2 hours of screen on time to be good battery life by today's standards. That would have been ok 2 or 3 years ago. I average around 4 hours on my G2 with full brightness.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

You have two options

1) set brightness to auto like most people and get 4 hrs sot ( see reports from other users on battery life thread)

2) if you don't want to use the device in auto brightness return moto x and wait for droid turbo if you are on Verizon or get other flagship's like lg g3

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

OP, are you on wifi most of that time?

I ask because if you are, may want to try turning off* as the phone has been shown to use less battery on 4G.

*if you can and aren't on a limited data plan

OP

What you're asking for is like getting a brand new Toyota Prius, driving it 100 MPH everywhere, and wondering why you get 20 miles per gallon in gas instead of 40.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

Just went 11.5 hours still at 47%. 2 hours 21 min on screen time with auto brightness.

If you're unhappy, return it.

True. As such: One phone works well for some, another for others, and still others for still others. And everybody using each will use it differently.

But, still: Some usage patterns do perhaps legitimately raise questions. For example: 100% brightness, full-time? I'm currently sitting in a room moderately lit for watching TV and reading. I just set my Moto G to 100% brightness. Found it rather blinding. Different strokes and all, but I don't see why one would do that.

True enough... I prefer auto brightness. Additionally, there are usually a LOT of things that the OP's don't tell people about their devices that could effect battery life. New apps they downloaded, Wifi on or off, new OS update that has not settled yet... it can go on and on.
