Moto X 2014 Post your end of day battery screen shots

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I get this feeling that the OP wants to be on the battery sucks train. They're looking for a reason to be unhappy, because they have an atypical use case. As has been said, if you are not happy, return the phone.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

OP, what was your usage like with the OG X? 100% brightness is crazy high for low light conditions. Are you outside a lot on your phone?

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

Battery is excellent for me. This phone at 70% brightness is as bright as most phones at 100%, I'm getting around 14 hrs.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I'm also thinking of returning phone. I run at auto brightness. Only getting 2-2.5 hours of OST.. Might jump to xperia. I need 4+ hours of OST.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I charge my phone at night, its at 100% when I go to bed.
Today I had One call that was 36 minutes. and some texts here and there. maybe 20 total so far today.
I do run the screen at 100% brightness but I do that on Every phone I have ever had.
I have barely over ONE hour on on screen time and I am at 37% at 3pm...

I would reduce the brightness to 50%, I'm not sure when you work or go to school. If you take it off the charger in the morning, your phone will last all even on 100%. 14-15 hours is very good for that battery size.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

Okay, so I decided yesterday to stubbornly avoid any opportunities to add some charge to my phone over the course of the day (since that's apparently the use case that all the Battery Hawks are citing as "normal" for daily use)... even though I was sitting at my desk right beside a charger for most of the day...

The first four photos show battery drain (note the really crappy cell signal I had for most of the day), screen on time, and phone calls over the course of my day, from when I took it off of the charger at around 7am, until when I put it back on the charger (or so I thought) just after midnight. At that point, the phone was at 29% and the estimated time left on battery according to Battery Widget Pro was about 4 hours. The mid-evening period of charging is when I plugged my Power Pack Micro into it at around 7pm. The PPM took the phone from ~12% to ~44%, IIRC, in just under an hour before it ran out of juice (I was on a phone call the entire time I had the PPM connected, so the net charge added by the PPM was probably lower than it could have been). Hopefully that's helpful to those of you who are considering the PPM.

The last screenshot is from when I woke up just before 7am this morning and realized I had accidentally failed to plug the charger all the way in at midnight, in my half asleep state. So it still made it through the night without dying, after that earlier boost from the PPM.

The Battery Hawks can keep hating all they want, but this phone is getting it done, and the Power Pack Micro is the perfect accessory for those times when you need to travel light and you really are away from an AC outlet for a long period of time. The Turbo Charger will improve the overall situation even further. This just cements my earlier assertion in other threads/forums that I'd rather have this phone at the current price, battery capacity, and perfect form factor, and CHOOSE to spend a little extra on the 1500 mAh PPM and/or Turbo Charger to suit my needs and use cases, than for them to have bulked up the phone and jacked up the price for maybe 300-500 mAh of extra onboard battery capacity.

Seems like awful battery life for anyone who's using Google now with location services enabled. Sure its a hit on any phone but I can't remember any recent device that was netting me less than 4hrs sot in a day recently.

How are you getting that on your G3, my wife's G3 can not no matter what I try.

Awful? No, that's the HTC Thunderbolt. This phone seems decidedly average, and for most people that's fine. Those hardcore users who can't go more than five minutes without being on their phones might need to look elsewhere, though.

I'm really curious what people are doing on their phones that requires their screen to be on for 4-5 hours a day where they aren't at their own house (where they would hopefully have a charger around).

This is especially true with Active Notifications/Moto Display.

Obviously the X isn't a tablet replacement phone. With the users that want 4+ hours of SOT need to look elsewhere honestly. While this does suck for obvious reasons, anyone thinking this phone will have the best battery ever with tons of SOT time is just kidding themselves. The battery results I'm seeing here are quite good. But I can see the users that use their phone constantly may not find it suitable. This is why (VZW anyways) has been offering a Maxx variant for some time now. Though this years Maxx is unknown at this time. If the 2014 X provides the same or better battery results as the 2013, then it's doing a damn good job IMO, considering the extra horsepower and screen with only a 100mAh increase.

One thing that concerns me is this phone doesnt sleep well. From the above screenshots you can see its constantly awake while screen is off. I only need a 2 1/2 - 3hr SOT for full day use but since this doesnt sleep well i may have to disable some features like location services or google now to make it through the day. And i feel this may get worse after few months

But most users seem to be reporting this is what they're seeing.

Update got to 20hrs heavy camera use and social media. Works for me. Normal workday 100 emails etc

Can we get more comments from people who also own the Moto X 2013 on the battery life of the X 2014? From what I've read it seems like the battery life of the two is similar which is not great.

Not sure how much better people want.. I mean 16-20 normal use. I am heavy user with work no issues

I just got this phone yesterday afternoon so it's very, very new.

Today was the first full day I've used it. Took it off the charger at 7am and it is now 6:45pm and I'm still at 65% battery. Now, that is with only 1 hour of screen time. I have two outlook.com emails syncing, my gmail, a exchange 2003 account syncing and Good Mobile Messaging work account.

I'm questioning the results so this is why I'm posting this. I have unlimited data so I have zero reason to use WiFi and I turned it off yesterday as well as turned off the Show WiFi pop-up check but WiFi is still showing as the 3rd use of battery at 12%. I thought my GS5 reset after a full charge but I don't remember.

You need to uncheck "always scanning for WiFi access points" under advanced WiFi setting. Otherwise phone is still using WiFi radio for location related things. I don't like this feature introduced with KitKat. It's like having two WiFi toggle settings and one is hidden.
