Moto X 2014 Post your end of day battery screen shots

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I don't know why you are complaining. you still have 37% battery left and you are running at 100% brightness, its an amoled screen already, If you ran it at 50% it should be plenty bright. You have had 14 hours of standby time. May be you get 2 hours of screen on time and with 100% brightness, its actually pretty good. I don't consider that a bad battery life.

complete crap. You guys the love android are so willing to compromise and put up with half baked crap that its laughable.
I run my iPhone at 100% brightness, play 2 games on it, make 2 hours of phone calls and have 8 email account on Push and after charging and using it the Same way, I have 40% battery life left at 10PM.
No. I will not run my screen at 50% where it's dim as hell. It's not "plenty bright" it looks like complete crap at 50%.
I ran the LG G2 and Note 3 at 100% brightness and never had a battery issue. Hell, the G2/Note3 would have 60% left at the end of the day. (yes I know they have 2x the size of the battery)
I have alway ran all my devices at 100%. If it can't handle 100% then don't give me that option.
2 hours of on screen time at 100% brightness is garbage. My iPhone 5s runs 100% bright and its not at 37% at 3pm and I charge it at night before bed as well. I use my phones as my alarm clock. Thats where the stand by time comes from.

Point being, Moto F'd up. The 2300mAh battery sucks.

Most are getting rather good battery results so not sure what your deal is there. As for the iPhone goes, I've seen those needing charged by mid afternoon. Doesn't matter if it's new or old. And the Moto X is not even near 'halfway baked crap' as you put it. Consider this, the OG X had a 2200mAh battery. The new X has 2300mAh as you already know. The new X has been meeting if not exceeding the old X with a much faster processor and a larger and higher resolution screen with only a 100mAh increase. Now that is damn good. As far as the screen goes, my wifes old 4S killed it's battery when it was on 100%. I turned it to auto and it improved quite significantly. So go on and use your 5S, cause I'm sure it's the most perfect experience ever...

You have an atypical use case. Get a phone that fits your use case. For normal people it's fine. This thread with all the end of day battery shots shows it, 4ish to 5 hours SOT. Most people do not run at 100%, not necessary... enjoy your 5S or whatever.

What's laughable is your ability to make up a bunch of numbers. You "play 2 games?" For how long?

40% at 10pm on an iPhone? Screenshots please.

8 email accounts? Seems excessive, but okay.

The G2/Note 3 have 2X battery size?? #Math

The 2300mAh battery sucks? You do realize that that new Moto X has MORE mAh per inch of screen size than the iPhone 6? It may not be up to the standard of other ANDROID flagships, but to say that Android fans are willing to put up with half baked crap is ridiculous. Case batteries like Mophie base their business around iPhones because they can't get through a day with anything over moderate usage. Talk about putting up with "half baked."

Not to mention the new iPhones can only be voiced activated when it's plugged in. Far cry from Moto X's always listening and customizable wake commands (if I'm not mistaken, you can only say "OK Siri" or whatever it is...).

Talk about a half baked feature.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

I forgot to take a screenie but yesterday's results were about the same as the day before. Almost 17h with 34% battery left. Used 1h 43min of screen time. I am still impressed with the battery on this thing.

Yeah the battery life is SOLELY dependent on one's personal needs. Reviews for both the 1st and 2nd generation Moto X said it had average battery life but I thought the 1st generation X had the best battery life of any Android I'd ever used......EVER! The 2nd generation seems to be right on par with that despite the larger screen!

Heh. To each their own. I don't want to seem like a troll. Mine comes in today though!

This certainly isn't me. Hell, look at my post count. It's all on WPCentral. I'm a Microsoft guy, but I've been using Android and iOS as well because I support our mobile environment and that is what most people have. I have no problem calling out Android and Apple's and MS's flaws. (MS doesn't have any..haha.. I kid.)

I'm shocked how well this battery has performed compared to my GS5 in the first 3 days I've been running it. The GS5, formally the best damn Android phone I've ever used, has a 2,800 mAh battery versus the 2,300 mAh of the Moto X.

If I have to use an Android phone, I think I'm cool keeping this X. I'll know more in a few weeks.

It's not going to be for everybody. I have unlimited data so I don't use WiFi unless I need to use SmartGlass to control my Xbox One. The battery tests say WiFi drains more then Cellular so I don't have that problem.

Also I think people under estimate the importance of Active Notifications. I am turning my screen on much less because I can see if I need to deal with a text/email/whatever. Screen time is the biggest battery drainer and the less I have to light that screen up, the better my battery will be. That won't show up in battery tests because those all involve keeping the screen on.

I've never run any of my devices at 100% brightness.. never a reason to unless you out in the sun then devices like the iPhone need to be cranked up or they are worthless. I just checked my 5S and my GS5 and both are around the 40% and that is way bright.

Exactly! I've been saying this for some time now. This phone isn't your typical high end Android phone mainly for that reason.

So don't buy one. No one's putting a gun to your head and saying you have to give up your iPhone or whatever and buy a Moto X. It's a free country, dude. For the record, I completely disagree with your last couple of statements, but again - free country.

It's all subjective and varies on a bunch of different things. Just cause these phones are built the same, doesn't mean every piece of it will function the same for everyone. We choose our devices based on the features and specs, and if something doesn't fly well, then you have options available to you (buy a new phone, carry a spare battery pack, etc - this is why research on a device is important). With that said, it's great that you've found a device with a battery that can support your usage. What's not great is you pushing your experience with your iphone like it's the answer to everyone's problems.

Gave the phone and battery a workout today. Ran Runtastic for 2 hours mid morning followed by 3h 40m of Strava. I did a mountain bike ride so easily half the ride I had no cell service. I left Wi-Fi on and expected the phone to be dead when I got home. Here's the results after the ride and not end of day yet.

Then I surfed Tapa and watched 20min of Amazon Prime video to kill the battery. And the final end of day results. Runtastic is missing from the app list because it was crashing so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. I'm happy with the results.

In your opinion, how does the camera compare to your gs5? I am coming from a gs3. Samsung makes pretty good cameras imo.

What? 5 hours monitoring your workouts? That's crazy awesome. I remember my gs3, I'd come home from a marathon training run, so 3 some hours, and I'd be at 40%, if I was lucky! Wow, that's amazing! I am impressed. Maybe that's the norm with modem smart phones, but I'm impressed.

Do the gs5, notes, lgg3's, etc, are they able to track running data with Runtastic and runkeeper in such an efficient way nowadays?

I've noticed that this screen is way too bright in dark rooms. I downloaded an app called night mode, this might help battery life at night for some. It brings the brightness down lower than stock settings.

Running art, no Bluetooth, WiFi half the time, brightness on auto, GPS services on.

Pretty mild day. Few phone calls and texts and a fair amount of browsing. Pretty impressed given the size of the battery. We will see how it holds up on heavier days.

Its not as good as the GS5 camera. It seems to have some issues focusing consistently. But I haven't used it a ton though. It'll probably be something that will get cleaned up with updates, but who knows.

Another normal day. When I'm not using WiFi I turn it off.
