Another normal day. When I'm not using WiFi I turn it off.

As do I. When I'm not connected but see it's still on the battery graph because it's switched on meant it needed to be OFF 😁

A pretty light day or so of use...mainly social media, email, and Chrome. I was a bit worried that all of the sensors, active listening, etc would impact the battery life, but I've found that this phone sips battery when not in use which is awesome. I should easily be able to get another hour or so of SOT. Very pleased with the battery so far, but will put it through the paces this weekend with Strava and Spotify running while biking.

This was my first full charge through the battery. 15 minutes of navigation with the screen off most of the way and a20 minute video chat.

Half way through my second charge. See pics if you're still on the fence about the battery life... I can only speak to my experience, but I did some streaming to Chromecast and phone calls. Maybe 30 minutes of each so far.

Day two, battery settling in, weekend (no work) so a relatively light day - phone calls, email, texts, some picture taking, Google Now to track some games - everything on all day (wifi, Bluetooth, gps locations services on high accuracy)

I'm still debating on getting a 2014 X. Can anyone compare the battery life to the HTC one M8?

Back when I had an M8 I would end a day similar to what I posted above with maybe 10 - 15% more battery left. That's not to say the M8 is any better with battery usage it's just that it has a slightly larger capacity battery. I would say based on my experience with both phones that they are comparable in battery use and efficiency, the only difference being battery capacity.

Re: Battery Life Sucks Bad...

complete crap. You guys the love android are so willing to compromise and put up with half baked crap that its laughable.
I run my iPhone at 100% brightness, play 2 games on it, make 2 hours of phone calls and have 8 email account on Push and after charging and using it the Same way, I have 40% battery life left at 10PM.
No. I will not run my screen at 50% where it's dim as hell. It's not "plenty bright" it looks like complete crap at 50%.
I ran the LG G2 and Note 3 at 100% brightness and never had a battery issue. Hell, the G2/Note3 would have 60% left at the end of the day. (yes I know they have 2x the size of the battery)
I have alway ran all my devices at 100%. If it can't handle 100% then don't give me that option.
2 hours of on screen time at 100% brightness is garbage. My iPhone 5s runs 100% bright and its not at 37% at 3pm and I charge it at night before bed as well. I use my phones as my alarm clock. Thats where the stand by time comes from.

Point being, Moto F'd up. The 2300mAh battery sucks.

Load of crap. Prove the results! Yea you can't I have had the note 3, yea great battery life, but no where in hell it will give me 60% left at the end of the day with 100% brightness. I mean you are just blowing smoke right there. what does end of day mean? 10 hours, 12 hours, 14 hours? what is the usage like? how much did you use the scree? I have had the iphone 5s, yea no way in hell after the way I use the phone it will last me whole day and still have 40% left with 100% screen brightness. Sister in law has and she hates the battery life on it. 50% screen brightness is dim? you lost me right there!!

At the end of the day if it doesn't match your usage habits its not a phone for you. Return and enjoy the phone the fits your needs.

I'll just put this here for reference. My Moto X 2013 results. I've mainly just been browsing using chrome and reading on reddit.

What? That's crazy awesome imo. Do normal modern day phones have such a good stand by time? 16 hours later and still 60% left?

See, to me, it doesn't matter battery efficiency or battery capacity. How long the phone lives is all I care about. Because at the end of the day, that's all that matter. Someone could invent a 1mah phone that lasts 5 hours, but I could never use it, because while that's amazing life, I still need more time than that. Just my opinion.

Question, when i unplug my phone in the morning, I spend about 20 minutes, half an hour surfing the web, Facebook, clash of clans, Bible, etc. My phone (which is a horrible, aging galaxy s3) drops like 15%. Or more.

If you were to do that on your new X, what would it drop to?

Put up your screen on time for your iPhone. It will be interesting to see how it fares against the Moto

If it was nr 3years old like the S3, probably the same...

What does the Moto x show under the same usage, that's what I'm curious about. First thing in the morning, half hour usage, what's the battery drain percent? Thank you!

Strictly LTE.
Screen brightness on auto.
Pretty decent battery life for LTE can't complain!
