I did not this time, but did last year for my moto x. The good thing is it is transferrable to the new owner if you sell your device.

Hello I'm hoping you guys and gals can inform me on this. Last year I got the moto x on a ATT contract. and -of course- I want to upgrade to the new edition.. Ive always wanted a 5in screen display. Anywho.. Do i have to shell out the 499 to buy the phone just to upgrade? Is there a way I can pay a lower price since i'm on a contract anyway and want to upgrade a phone? I know there is a trade in option but it's telling me it would give me a lousy 60 dollars for a phone that i bought last year that's in still good condition -.- Any suggestions? How are some of you going to upgrade? What's the best route to take?

Not sure, I'm not on ATT, but personally, I would buy the new one (unlocked version) and activate it on your account and deactivate the old one, not sure how it work at ATT. Then you can sell the old ATT Moto X, just have to make sure the phone you're selling isn't tied to your account so ATT won't blacklist it for the new owner or something.

Switch to T-mobile they will pay for your termination fees, then buy the phone.

Their policy is you can't sell phone tied to your contract, so you have to make sure of that first.

I have heard they offer a partial upgrade but I have never I used it.

.edu discount code seems to work with white front panel configurations as the black one seems to be sold out at the moment. I ordered the white front panel to get the discount and will consider returning it for a black panel version in the future. I just placed the order and still got a 9/26 ship date.

Gives me the following: "The 32GB option and the selected front color is not available for T-Mobile at this time. Please change your selection." I admit I'm not on T-Mobile but AT&T, why should that matter if it's unlocked and GSM?

If you picked a black front panel there's a good chance that it is out of stock and they won't backorder or complete your ordering process.
