Moto X (2014) Pre-Order

I just ordered mine: purple back with purple trim, black front, 32 gig. Can't wait! I was going to try and hold off until they knocked the price down, but I just couldn't help myself. My 2013 X has been such a terrific phone it almost seems like a shame to retire it when the new one arrives, but I'll manage...somehow (LOL).

Anyone see any Moto Maker Displays in AT&T, Verizon, etc. stores?

I want to look at some of these backs in person. Last time around, Motorola had a lot of the backs on display in various AT&T stores. I wonder if we'll see that this year?

Good question. I was in VZW last Friday and didn't see any (the new X isn't out for VZW so I wouldn't expect one yet). I wonder if AT&T has one or if they will soon. I really wanted to see all the leather options in person before deciding on a color.

It's not officially launched right? So I guess it wouldn't be there yet.

Yea. True. I just thought they might do something ahead of official launch since you can buy a moto maker x on the moto site, as long as it's with at&t.

I have to wait anyways since im on VZW.

This is the most difficult process yet. I'm an AT&T sucker and I'm trying to upgrade for which I am eligible for.
I go through the customization process and there is a cost of $124 in the Summary Cart.
Plus they want my credit card info.
I might be older and slower but I never paid a portion of any of my past upgrade phones to the specific OEM.
Maybe I'm not understanding the process.
Please advise if you can help an old guy out.

I'm with AT&T as well and they are claiming I can do an upgrade. I want to upgrade via motomaker but I can't even see where I'm suppose to get to that point! They are saying I can upgrade by using AT&T Next.how did you get to the point that you were able to design your phone and order it by doing a upgrade?

Why not just get the Pure edition?

You know... I wasn't sure what was a pure edition until now lol. I am assuming it's the non motomaker types. But to answer your question, I got the moto x 2013 version through motomaker and I want to do the same design

Phandroid is saying 9/26 for Verizon orders.

Someone else had troubles trying to use an AMEX card? Can't make it go through.

When I ordered on September 16th my Amex wouldn't go through. I called Amex to see what's up, and they said they approved both of my attempts, so it was Motorola that decided things didn't look right and refused to process it. I switched to my Visa and it went right through.

On another note, I got an e-mail yesterday saying that my order, supposedly not due until October 13th, is getting built. I'm hoping that means it'll arrive earlier than the estimate!

Pure edition means no carrier branding or carrier bloat apps. You can still design your own. They work on att and T-Mobile.

Ah ok I am sorry for being a total noob When I look at the options I don't see pure edition unless you mean at the check out not select a carrier. Thank you for the help by the way everyone

Moto said edu discount only applied to 16gb. They couldn't apply it to 32. My phone is already being assembled. And they gave me $50 in accessories. (turbo charger not applicable because it isn't available yet) but I got a skip and new ear buds to match the x

The pure edition is also on Moto maker. Just means its unlocked and carrier free. :) It works on att and Tmo.

I was unable to build a Pure Edition in the 32 gig size. Don't know if that was a site glitch or if the device isn't available with that option.

few posts back it was mentioned that 32gb is available on the pure edition but appears to be sold out. I ran into the same problem. They don't flat out tell you its sold out just not available on the carrier with the front face color you have chosen. Doesn't matter what you change(other then choosing 16gb) it will give you the same "unavailable messsage".

I can not order the 32GB Pure edition either. All ready to order too so hope they will get them in stock soon.

Got a question....I have never purchased a phone outside of contract. Always gone to the ATT Store to obtain new phones when eligible. I assume when my phone arrives all I have to do is switch out the SIM and my phone should be activated and ready to use. No need to go to the ATT Store. Then use the Migrate app to move my "stuff" from the old to the new. Am I correct or will I need to the assistance of the ATT Store?
