So I listen to music often during my commute and sometimes get a phone call or two but every time I unplug my headphones to answer the phone call, the speakerphone is active even though the icon doesn't show that it is. Is there any way to fix this? It's getting extremely annoying not to mention embarassing when it's your mother calling you. And just to be thorough, I'm using the play music app.

This exact thing actually happens to me with the 2013 Moto x.

Not sure if there is a way to prevent this but why not just press the speaker button before saying hello.

Yep, doing that at the moment. I actually found a bug report on AOSP that details the exact same thing happening to Nexus devices so I guess it's not a Moto X specific thing. This is the link: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=70903 . I really hope this gets fixed with Lollipop but with the amount of attention it's garnered, I'd say that's a remote possibility.

This is one of 953,943,431,343,432,348 reasons why my next phone will NOT be a Motorola and probably not an Android OS. Pretty obvious that this piece of crap was developed in about 3 months without considering UX or even addressing some major bugs. The perfect testament against these agile development cycles. I want to say I hope the right people were fired for this flagrant electronic turd but knowing how these companies are run, middle management was probably promoted for meeting the retarded deadlines upper management set, while the underlings will be laid off when people stop buying the phones. Oh man, the world is not just :(
