Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition XT1095: 5.0 Lollipop Update (22.11.6)

My old Nexus 4 got it three nights ago, still nothing on my X 2014 Pure.

Interesting to see how there are some posts stating that the PURE EDITION has received the Lollipop update. That is clearly not the case as there are thousands who have received no update. So much for purchasing the phone that was promised to be the cutting edge of the line......

Motorola said the Pure Edition rollout has started. Rollout doesn't necessarily mean it's out for all Pure Edition users.

Yes, but Verizon didn't have a rollout, they got it all at once. And the "roll out" was announced on the 12th and it is still not getting in most Pure Edition users hands, as you can tell from this forum. In fact, I have not heard of one person who got the OTA since the first batch came through around that date. The "roll out" has stopped.

Just because the rollout may stopped or slowed down still doesn't mean that Verizon got the update first.

The camera will not be improved very much by software. So if you are waiting on that to happen you will be disappointed. This is about as good as it will get.

I will disagree with you there. The 5.0 update drastically improved image quality, IMHO. The focus is faster and the image blur is gone. Overall image quality is greatly improved. I have been very impressed with it since the update.

Slice it anyway you want. If a vast majority of Pure Edition users get their update weeks after carrier branded users get theirs, they are going to feel 2nd - regardless if some singletons got theirs.

It didn't bother me that I haven't gotten the OTA. I figured if the rollout was stopped then there were some bugs they need to work out. Yet a few days later Verizon gets a full push? Huh? Shouldn't the Pure Edition firmware be less complicated than a more-bloated carrier version? There goes my "they are holding it off to fix a few bugs" theory. I honestly can't think of why Verizon would get the full push sooner.

Received an email from Motorola today with info on the Cyber Monday Moto X deal. It's states in the small print that it "can be upgraded to Android™ 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box".

Thought that was kind of funny. :)

Think I'll try putting mine back in the box and take it out again. Maybe that's the way to force the update. ;)

it's been said before but i have to reaffirm something. i wish moto would just be a bit more transparent about what's going on. a little communication would have gone a long way. moto hasn't responded to my email, tweets or chats with anything other than generic corporate-ese.

still waiting. still checking. still hopeful.

Year I'm so disappointed. Got the phone delivered on Friday, and was hoping for a nice update notification. Nope. What blows my mind is that, for all intents and purposes, Motorola is acting like the update is readily available (their blog, the cyber Monday deal, etc.).

FYI: A birdy said Motorola is working on a newer version with some fixes... which should be out in a few days.

And your kitty looks like he ate that birdy! Seriously, though, newer with fixes is a very good thing.

I totally agree. While I really like the quick software updates, the first version of lollipop is quite buggy.

I signed up for the soak test. How long before people see the update? Device has been confirmed online and all that fun stuff as well!

Based on the number of bugs involved, my guess is that further push is on hold.

Don't know if it matters, but I just got a slew of updates to Moto apps and services on my phone, including a sensor firmware update. Maybe a sign of things to come?

How long have you had your phone? I got those updates a few days after owning mine.

Got it last Friday, got the updates 2 days later, on Sunday. I guess it's nothing special then.
