Re: Congratulations Motorola!

It's the Soak Testers... not to the general public just yet.

Im not a soak tester... so either it was an error or today is the day, I just got the notification to update, 569.2MB until Lollipop

Re: Congratulations Motorola!

Moto G 2014 becomes the 1st phone with Lollipop...... Why Motorola? Why not your flagship Moto X? Why do you hate it so much? But still....at least we're still the first one to get the OTA

Probably easier on the Moto G.

Official Moto X (2014) Lollipop OTA is Rolling Out Now.

I'm happy to report that my Moto X (2014) just got a notification that the official OTA is available. I'm currently downloading it :)

For clarification, I was not part of the soak test, and I'm currently on 4.4.4. This appears to be an official OTA.

It's time to unwrap: Android 5.0, Lollipop is here

Get ready for something sweet! AndroidTM 5.0, Lollipop is officially here for some of our Motorola devices!

We’ve started to roll out Lollipop in phases just a week after the public release of the software to the following devices in the US:
  • Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition
  • Moto G (2nd Gen.) US GSM
  • Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM retail versions sold in the US

The most ambitious release yet, Lollipop brings a number of tasty enhancements, including:
  • A new look and feel. Google brings its all-new Material Design to life with a bold, new visual style. The new user interface is designed to enable better, more natural touch screen interactions and introduces vivid new colors, typography, and edge-to-edge imagery to make using your phone more fluid.
  • Your device, your rules. Catch up with notifications on your lock screen and even dismiss them without unlocking. New "Downtime" and "Interruption" settings also allow you to decide what people and what notifications get through at times that you choose.
  • Share your device. You know that moment when your kid plays with your phone or a friend needs to borrow it? Use "Guest" mode or another account you’ve set up to share your device. You can also pin a view to limit the user to a particular application.
  • Let there be light. Shine a light by using the new flashlight in Quick Settings. Just swipe down with two fingers from the status bar to see it.
  • Battery saver. The Battery settings panel now shows an estimated projection for how much time you have left even while you're charging. You can also enable a new battery saver mode that will save power by reducing performance and most background data operations to extend your battery life.

For more about these new features, find details at our Lollipop support page and on Google’s official Lollipop page. We’re working hard with our carrier partners to bring this update to more of our devices as soon as we can. You can always check out the latest upgrade status for your phone by visiting our software updates page.

Hope you find the update as sweet as we do.

Re: Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition: 5.0 Lollipop Update (22.11.6)

Awesome! But does this include the "WiFi battery drain bug" that's holding back the Lollipop update to Nexus devices?

Re: Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition: 5.0 Lollipop Update (22.11.6)

Aww man this is pretty awesome guys. Good luck hopefully none of you guys run into any bugs. I have the pure edition as well so I'll be checking my phone every 3 minutes for the foreseeable future. Did you guys check for the update or were you just prompted?

Re: Moto X (2nd Gen) Pure Edition: 5.0 Lollipop Update (22.11.6)

After using it for a little while I am really enjoying it. Everything seems very responsive and opens fast, the flashlight feature in the notification bar is also really handy.

I have noticed that the smart lock option for nfc tags does not seem to work with the moto skip dots. It will sync them but if you turn your screen off and back on it will not unlock the device when it is held up to the dot.

I also notice that the skiplock app currently does not work to keep your phone unlocked on wifi, hopefully this will be updated soon.

I'm also liking that once you swipe the notification bar down you can just press along the top bar to have it open the quick settings.

As far as battery life I've had 40 minutes on screen time with the battery dropping to 91%, I'll try to post an end of day usage later tonight.
