Moto X 2nd Gen Tempered Glass?

Man I know that the Bodyguardz are not fitting good but I had to mention this. I bought one through att for my wife's iphone 6. She broke it 2 days later hitting it with a belt buckle. Lol. Anyway, I emailed Bodyguardz to see if they could do anything for me. They replied back to say there was nothing wrong with the product but they would gladly replace it this time. I thanked them and said that I'd be ordering one for my Moto x when I get it. Well in the mail today was both a tempered glass for the iPhone AND my Moto x! I was really surprised and just wanted to pass that along. Gives me a good feeling about the company even if the Moto X doesn't fit quite right. I think it's the phone design being the culprit anyway. Pretty cool though.

Will a Hula bumper cover and mitigate the problem of raised glass edges? Anyone tried both?

My Hula bumper came in today and well I don't really like it. I bought a blue one to match my blue highlights and it just adds to much bulk and feels cheap. I was expecting/hoping for a bumper like the bumpers for the iPhone where it's just a simple rectangle...this isn't one of those.

I'll be sticking to nude.

Verizon's solution is not adhering to the right and left edges correctly. Anybody know who they use to manufacture their tempered glass?

Welp, I gave up on screen protectors or whatever they're called; utter waste of time. Long story short, this screen will scratch, and there's no getting around it.

Gorilla glass is just marketing mumbo jumbo, my screen is already scratched (only visible under certain lighting) and I haven't had the phone for two weeks. Only thing it has come in contact with besides my thumb is lint free cloth. I'm just not going to let it bother me. I'm going to be using the phone naked from here on out.

But to those of you who are OCD about this sort of thing, don't let the marketing nonsense fool you, the screen will scratch, get a protector if that sort of thing bothers you.

Ridiculous that after all this time they have't come up with a solution to this. Who is requiring theses screens to be glass exactly? Wouldn't some sort of high transmittance polymer be a better solution than using glass? Instead of making the glass harder wouldn't it make more sense to use something with a little resilience (i.e. elasticity)? Glass will always scratch ... It's brittle.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, and frustration with a supposed premium device.

I ordered a tempered glass from Amazon. After a couple of weeks I looked at the order and it said Nov. 25- Dec 26 delivery. I asked for a return. The seller said it would be another five days and it would be delivered. Two days later the seller emailed me and said the manufacture notified him that they didn't account for the filleted edge on the screen and the tempered glass was to big. He said I could keep the tempered glass, he would refund 50% of the purchase and send me three film type screen protectors.
I accepted the offer. Figure he made good on something he had no control of. The film protectors will be fine until another tempered glass protector I ordered came in. After reading the reviews on a lot of these tempered glass protectors, it seems to be a common mistake being made with the new Moto X.

The solution is sapphire

Devices slowly popping up with sapphire integrated in the screen

Once my phone will have a sapphire coating or sapphire incorporated the right way, only then I'll be cruising without a screen protector

Honestly, that sounds like trying to put out an electric fire with more water. Until they can develop a glass that can withstand > 7 mohs (i.e. sand) it's all moot.

Perhaps it's time to try another approach; maybe look for a material that isn't hard but rather elastic such that it doesn't shatter or suffer the other ails of brittle materials (i.e. permanent scratches).

gotta love MKBHD :-)
check out this video.. it should put you at 1min 15sec: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7ANcWQEUI8#t=75
whole video is great.
shows us sapphire is 9 mohs, but the screen isn't all sapphire

and that's why I wrote....

or sapphire incorporated the right way,

people with iphone 6 may think they have a sapphire display, though if it were it would withstand the sandpaper test

but I also just now learned that the iphone 6 doesn't have sapphire? Why Apple Didn't Use Sapphire for the iPhone Screens
(it seems they ditched those plans, doesn't really matter to me, as I don't have an iphone)

and this is the other phone with sapphire incorporated: Kyocera's sapphire screen is tougher than we expected

but in the end, I agree with you, the real culprit is sand. Once the screens can truly defend against sand particles, that will be best. Sand is everywhere, I remember scratching one of my older phones with a couple of particles I had in my pocket - the sand not noticeable to my fingers, was able to make a fine scratch on the screen.

thats impossible because the moto x has a lot of curves. the iphone is just a straight brick which is easy to make a slim bumper for.

I found the body gaudz one available on amazon but it is hard to find it I will have to see if I can link it. I did not purchase it as it does not get great reviews.

I just received my screen protector from the Motorola store, it's the Shock-Absorbing version from Power Support. Since I never heard of the company, I did a search online and YouTube and turned out that they make quality screen protectors for iPhones. After putting on the screen protector, I have to say, it's made real well, can really tell the quality. It's smooth to the touch, almost like glass, optic quality with it is excellent, and it's real good at repelling fingerprints. I only notice 2 minor cons, it's a lint magnet; it seem to suck up all the lint from the pocket of my pants. And 2, it's a real tight fit since the screen protector hugs very close to the screen, so be very careful when applying it. Overall, I like it a lot more than my Skinomi which I replaced with it, and the quality comes very close to the Zagg Tempered Glass which I had on my Galaxy S5.

I tried several tempered glass protectors on my 2014 moto x. Ended up going without. None of the ones I purchased fit as well as my 2013 moto x.
Between not covering the entire face of phone and adhesive issues, cheap or expensive, I couldn't find a decent one.
Went without until I sold it.

I found one!!!
As you know with the moto 2014 the edges are curved. i have had several glass screen protectors for it. if they are close to the edge it looks bad and has some gaps between the glass and the shield due to the curve. This one comes up a bit short on all the sides and as such fits flushly against the glass. it also does not look bad with a case due to the case has enough lip on it to make it less noticeable. it is also very thin so dragging things to the edges work fine. best one!

@Micber, I've been looking for a good tempered glass screen protector, which one did you purchase? If you have an Amaon link that'd be great!

What one did you get? I tried three different ones and none of them worked well at all.
