Has anyone on AT&T got it yet? I feel like once we get this update it is going to be succeeded by Android M or a later Lollipop version, curse you AT&T!!!

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

First, welcome to AC... this being your first post here... and a negative one at that.

Last I had read was AT&T was working on the 5.1 release, but it's not been released yet... of course neither has the 5.1 for the Pure Edition or the Verizon version.

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

Thanks for the reply, my first experience with android has been pretty good, but some of the bugs in 5.0 are killing me (music randomly not working, deleted emails reappearing, general things being laggy)
I suppose its to be expected with any .0 release, and the moto x has been awesome otherwise

Laggy issues can sometimes be an issue with the Cache getting a little full... have you tried Settings > Storage > scroll down then touch the "Cached data", this will ask if you want to clear cached data, click ok. There is also a step by step process of clear the cache partition in post #1 of: http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x-2014/465537-i-can-t-get-my-moto-x-into-recovery-so-i-can-wipe-cache.html#post4081391

I'm not sure what to think of music randomly not playing or deleted emails reappearing, at least if the emails are Gmail... if it's some other email system you are accessing then I might think about checking into that system and how they work with Android.

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

5.1 isn't going to fix every issue you have -- it may fix some of them, but don't build up your hopes too high just yet. 5.1.1 is supposed to fix even more things, but Lollipop is a bloody mess all around. It's probably best to be looking forward to your next phone hopefully running android M (let's hope Google does a better job on M then they did on lollipop...)

With regards to your music issues -- that would depend on the app you're using. Google Play Music breaks sometimes for me, usually fixed by force stopping the app and then re-launching it. Lag issues are possibly 5.0's memory leak. My phone requires rebooting every other day or so on 5.0 to deal with the lag. Deleted emails re-appearing... if you're referring to Gmail, that's an issue I haven't seen. Then again, I only access my Gmail account via the Gmail app on my phone, a Windows 8.1 app (that uses IMAP), and via POP in another Windows program.

Motorola's David Schuster posted recently that once they fix a last minute bug found on the Pure Edition 2014 X (soak test), that they will be providing the 5.1 build for carriers to tweak and test. That process takes some time (and it is why I bought a PE phone and not a carrier model).

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

Good point, next time I'm going unlocked or PE.
The clearing cache is good for a quick fix, I'm also using clean master which has seemed to keep any major issues at bay
Just waiting for M on my next device (or a more mature lollipop) at this point

Speaking from personal experience... owning both the AT&T version and a Pure Edition.....

The Pure Edition is NOT getting updates any faster.... ok, maybe a little quicker on the 5.0 version, but we all know how great that has been. I'm still waiting for 5.1 on both devices right now. The Pure Edition started a Soak Test back in the beginning of April.

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

5.1 just showed up this morning finally. I purchased my X directly from Moto rather than ATT.

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

I got the 5.1 update last night on my pure edition Moto X.

To JonHoffman - I have had the same issues as you on 5.0 - Google Play Music just won't work every once in a while, lag, home screen redraw, email that I just opened reappearing as unopened, apps/games reloading after being in the queue for 30 seconds (lets say I have Email and Candy Crush open, I switch to open an email and then go back to Candy Crush and it reloads the game instead of picking up where it left off. This was not a problem on KitKat.), etc.

I hope 5.1 fixes these problems.

Re: Moto X 2014 AT&T 5.1 Update

I have an AT&T Moto X and no 5.1 for me yet. However, I think AT&T was the last of the X's to get Lollipop, so I expect that pattern will continue.

Did you buy the AT&T model or the Pure Edition?

I just check mine, and I'm downloading 5.1 as well.... and less than a week after the Pure Edition got it's 5.1 update.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 AT&T

Yep I have the update available this morning also, let us know how it goes, I'll wait a bit before installing ;)

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 AT&T

So far, so good. I read over the release notes and what was alerted. I can't say I've run into any trouble yet.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 AT&T

Downloaded the update last night, been using my phone today to test. Everything seems good, no lag or glitches, finally being able to swipe notifications away without removing them from the notification tray is the best part.

I'm concerned about my battery life. My phone has been running for about 4.5 hours and has reached 65% battery. This is with very very low use (screen on time of about 25 minutes, 3%). Cell Stand by is the highest with 6%, which I never noticed as the highest in the past.

My Wifi has been on and connected, i've been receiving messages/tweets sporadically in the day so far. When looking at the expanded battery graph, the cellular network shows Yellow, and the 'Awake' seems kind of filled for not using my device much so far. (pic attached)

So is there something wrong here or is this normal? Idk, it seems to me for not using my phone that much today, dropping 35% in 4.5 hours seems like a lot.

Re: Moto X (2nd gen): Lollipop 5.1 AT&T

Some call it the OS settling in, after a day or two after download it should go back to normal, if not better. If not, I used to be able to reload my OS on BB10, but idk if you can on android
