Moto X: Battery draining fast

Well, if you are ever in an earthquake, ice storm or situation where the power all goes out, you might be wishing for more battery life! I think the towers can go at least three days on their batteries if they don't have some other backup system, so that's two days of missing out. :)

But for the most part, yeah..you are right. You really don't need more then that. I think the calls for it are more for convenience and potential wear and tear on the charger port than anything else.

Fine, I didn't think of natural disaster, but the 1 time a year that I lose power for a storm (2 or 3 times over the life of the phone), I can always put it in airplane mode to preserve the battery I guess.

With active notifications and touchless controls turned off the battery does pretty good idle. With them on overnight I go through 8% battery on airplane mode. Off I only went through 2%. If I left the network on I would've lost a lot more, but I can't be a fair judge because I live in a basement with crappy network connectivity.

I simple opt for charging the phone overnight so I don't have to turn on and off features that I use everyday.

I use greenify, the iPhone standby time is up to around 10 days. While I never tested that I have gone as long as 4-5 days unplugged sitting on my nightstand just to see how long it would last. My Moto X wont even come close to that.

P.S not bashing the Moto X as its currently my daily driver, just saying in terms of standby time the iPhone trumps every phone I have used.

Fortunately, phones are meant to be used rather than left on the table as decorative objects. :D

I say this all the time and still nobody has any good answer...why does your phone need to last more than one day comfortably? It's really not hard to charge it overnight while you're sleeping. The Moto X easily gets through over 20 hours for me, so it doesn't make any difference to me whether my battery is at 25% or 50% when I go to bed...

Well, i went on a 10 day camping trip last year. No convenient place to charge the phone overnight. So it is useful to have a list of things that can be turned off.

I go calling for a week every year. I used my photon, in airplane mode, as my alarm clock. I did the same with my pre (with a big battery attached). I even turned on the radios on the photon one a day to check my email.

I am sad to learn this phone probably can't be used that way.
