I just bought this phone and the camera wrist flick to activate the camera was working perfectly with screen on and off. Now it only works when the screen is on and I have relentlessly tried doing it with the screen off making me look like a fool in public. Any help on how to get this feature back and working?

Thanks

Factory reset, or look around the settings. Thats my advice. Haven't played with the Moto X yet.

Works with pin/pattern lock too ..it will allow you too take picture ..but it will not allow you too swipe and open gallery..

I agree with the the OP it is a gentle flick not a crazy rigorous flick

How does this function with a lock screen? (pin, etc)

It'll skip your lock screen, to view any images before you've open the app, you'd require the pin/lock... Just like other Androids and iPhones..

As for the issue, sorry. I'd try the reset, maybe it learned how you normally flicked it and that's why?

I too was perplexed on getting the gesture for the camera working consistently. I read elsewhere that it was two consistent wrist flicks. I call shenanigans on that. From my on experimentation, three wrist flicks works a charm every time. Hope this helps.

Two is all it takes. I guess three doesn't hurt but your doing an extra one for no reason.

I haven't been able to get this to consistently work for me. I've given up and tried getting carpal tunnel in the process! I just use the widget on the lock screen. It's just as fast.

Its very smooth motion it really easy people are just complicating this motion . I would suggest you to see marques brownlee YouTube video " moto x features explained" to get it right ..I saw his video and I just do it like him ..it works always 100% without any special effort

I agree. People think it has to be this fast sudden movement. I've been seeing how slow it can be done and it can be done slow
