Moto x, how do I set speed dials

Another option, if it exists on the new Moto phones, is the Direct Dial widget. Click the Apps button and then Widgets to see if it is there. You can set up as many direct dial numbers as you wish and stack them on top of each other on your home screen.

This is exactly what I do for the most important/frequent people I contact. I have them set for one-touch calling as well as one-touch text messaging access.

Well I just posted a question on this forum and what I read here above is not working for me on my brandnew Nexus 5 clicking on the star works for some of my contacts and for others it doesn't... it is a bit annoying because I can't add my husband to favorites so he does not appear in that list for speed dialing - I wonder how I can add him then ;) and have the same issue with more of the contacts in my list.

Perhaps because I'm working with local contacts and no sync with google???

I use direct dial shortcuts. Just tap the icon and it starts dialing. I keep the four people I routinely call on my main desktop page. You could even stack them in one folder for quick access.

So stupid why get rid of Speed Dial. To Google, remember you're Google not Microsoft & Windows 8.
