Hey Everyone,

I recently purchased the Moto X for Verizon, and love it so far. I am however having this weird issue where the Navigation app (google navigation/maps) will not play the audio directions through my bluetooth stereo in my car. Instead, it plays this audio through the phone's speakers. This is odd because music (from any source.. google play, youtube, rhapsody etc), notifications, and podcasts all play through the bluetooth stereo. It is not a lack of capability of the stereo, as I used the same stereo to play navigation from my old Htc Evo, and briefly from an Htc One. Interestingly enough, it WILL play the navigation through the stereo so long as it is also playing audio from another source, so if i'm listening to a podcast it will pause it, play the navigation audio and then resume the podcast.

So far i've tried unpairing and repairing the devices, unchecking and rechecking media under bluetooth settings, disabling and enabling assist, and ensuring that the volume for navigation is up all the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Adam

Hmm. Got me. Do u have a mode selection in your car like aux 1, aux 2, CD, Bluetooth? Selecting Bluetooth do anything? But then you wouldn't be able to just listen to FM radio......

Hmm... just for diagnosis' sake, what apps do you have installed?

I don't think an app would be the cause of this problem. I'll try in the morning and see if mine (HTC One) talks through the radio.

Mine was working perfectly until just today. Suddenly, it won't play over BT for me either as of this afternoon. I haven't installed any new apps. But Google+, Google Play and the eBay apps did update for me over the last 24 hours.

When my phone is connected to my radio via bluetooth I must also be on auxiliary Bluetooth in order for my directions to play through my stereo. If it is placed on FM radio or any other settings it does not play through the radio. I picked a destination down the street and I made all types of left and right hand turns just to see what happens and that was my I'll come.

Yup. My car's system must be in Aux/Mp3 mode for it to project the BT sounds. Alas, mine wasn't working two days ago but was working again yesterday and today. Flaky. But it works again, so yay!

Interesting, mine is still not working. What's weird is that third party apps like waze do play the navigation through Bluetooth, it's just the Google app that isn't.

It's got to be the Google Maps app. It's not playing over BT again but everything else is (music, YouTube, etc).

Same issue with my AT&T X. AT&T passed me to Google. Google passed me to Motorola. Motorola said phones navigation app wasn't configured for Bluetooth navigation. This is ridiculous since all my previous Android phones did that and the X is latest, greatest. After multiple apologies Motorola tech guy that MAY be something a future software could fix. Big dissapoint... didn't try it while playing music via Bluetooth. Will try that in a few hours on the way to work

I was actually having this issue as well. It happens with Google Now through bluetooth in my car too. The funny thing is, when Google Now starts to answer, it comes through the speaker but gets cut off almost immediately after a few words.

I had the same issue with Bluetooth in my car. When ever I had the maps navigation going, the only way it would announce a turn would be if play music was playing. If I paused the music or stopped it the maps program wouldn't announce turns.

I disabled play music and replaced it with a different music player (Rocket Player) where there is a setting to disable start up on Bluetooth connection. Turn by turn seems to be working now.

By the way. I have my phone which is a RAZR maxx HD connected to a toyota fj cruiser.

Oh thank god I am not the only one having this problem. I thought my car had gone bonkers or something.
Ya the navigation directions can only be heard if I'm on BT mode in my car. Before it worked fine.
Google should fix this quick. I miss listening to Fm radio while getting my directions
But I guess the only temporally solution is to not use the BT and just use the phones speakers.
Or buy another gps navigation

I installed mapquest app on my phone to see if it would still have the same problem, and it does. Maybe it's not the apps ....maybe it's the car now.?

Scout by Telenav and Google Navigation both work via my VW Bluetooth set up. No need for AUX. It needs to be currently running for it to work.
