Moto X Pure Edition/Moto X Style vs. Nexus 6P

I'll give moto the benefit of the doubt and say that the MXPE will have the update very close to and if not before many people receive their new nexus phones.

Moto is usually fast but I also know they want to take their time a bit more now and make sure things are stable.

Sure, it will get Marshmallow fast, but how fast will it get N and O? The nexus 5 will have Marshmallw next week. Also, if there are small updates like 5.01 and 5.02, how fast will it get those?

I have the Pure and think I am going to return it.

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

Nexus. The pure has serious battery issues if you do anything what so ever with the GPU. That includes maps and chrome. If all you do it leave it in standby and send some texts / email you should be fine. If you use it or are looking for development for this device I'd suggest getting a nexus instead or waiting.

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

The price of the 6P is appealing. But, the Moto X Pure is still cheaper by a big margin and has comparable specs.

The battery life could be better in the pure, but I average 4hrs 20 mins of screen time after the initial week. Being a CA resident, I have a 30 day return policy.

Will wait for detailed reviews of the 6P, before deciding on whether to go for the Nexus device or not.

The only things that tempt me are the Nexus brand and the fingerprint sensor.

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

I've been happy with my MXPE so far. No compelling reason to switch.

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

I have been happy with my MXP, but this is VERY tempting...I am seriously thinking of returning my MXP and getting this instead, especially considering there is only a $25 difference since I got a leather back with 32 gb....honestly the only thing holding me back is I don't have a temp. phone to hold me over between sending off my Moto and getting the Nexus.

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

I think Im going to go with the X. I love the software extras that Moto adds to stock and I prefer the look of the X. I only wish it had a better battery.

I'm hedging my bet that the XPE will get the 2nd fastest OS updates behind the Nexus line. The lack of carrier dependence is huge. I bet the Moto engineers have already worked out the Moto features into the last preview builds of Marshmellow and they are just awaiting final code release.

I like the way the XPE is customized for me, feels great in the hand, and has an 'adequate' battery. Marshmellow should do wonders to the standby time.

All of the OEMs basically have early access.

But what's unproven is how fast Motorola's going to update while fully under Lenovo.

Lollipop to Marshmallow seems more like the jump from Jelly Bean to KitKat and not the disaster that was KitKat to Lollipop. Motorola got burned by Android 5.0 and I've given them a pass for how late some devices got Lollipop because 5.1 was better.

Motorola's add-ons differentiate. The Moto X Pure Edition fixes my only complaint about the previous two Moto Xs: the camera. There's nothing compelling for me in the Nexus 6P for me to want to switch.

This one is tough. Same size screen, choose between a metal or leather back and they're toe to toe on many specs. The 6P has a HUGE battery, sounds like they've focused quite a bit on low light camera quality and they're not slouching on the build materials either. Design wise I like the X but that could lose out to the instant/constant updates that come with a Nexus. Right now I'd lean towards the 6P, but it really needs to prove itself in battery life, camera and screen quality or I'll quickly swing back to my MXPE.

In my use, I think Marshmallow is going to make the battery on the Moto X Pure Edition better. I get a day's worth of (my) use now and I've got Quick Charge 2.0 chargers at work, home, and in the car.

I don't think I can go back to a phone that didn't have Moto Display or Moto Assist's Drive Mode.

had a galaxy nexus then a nexus 5...now got my xpure.

nothing in the 6p makes me want it:

More expensive
Cant customize colors
Probably inferior camera
No SD card slot
No moto notifications
No moto assist
Inferior screen (PPI)
Not a AMOLED fan yet (have a 2014 moto X I use for work, the IPS screen is far better than its AMOLED)
No turbocharging

None of the above make me want a 6p. I thought maybe i MIGHT want a 5x just to drop a little size, but its even more off the specs, so thats a no go.

I'm sticking with the Moto PE too.I do like the 6p more then I did . But I do have the N6 running with my MXPE ( on different carriers) I may snag the 6p up at a later time but no rush.So I didn't pre order :)

From my Moto X PE. (64GB)

Re: Moto X Pure vs. Nexus 6p

There are lots of similarities between the devices, screen size, ram, vanilla Android.

Plenty of differences too. Amoled vs LCD, thin device vs. thick and curvy, fingerprint scanner, etc.

What do you guys think? Personally I am still thrilled with the Moto X because of the SD card, Motocare, Moto app with notifications, custom design, known good manufacturer, known decent camera.

Doesn't the Nexus 6P comes with Android Sense hub?

You're dual wielding the same combo as me? LOL :D

I'm rocking white back/black front Nexus 6 Assassin Edition and black leather back/white front Moto X Pure Edition with Assassin Red (tm) accents. :D

I agree with you about the AMOLED. I prefer IPS displays

As for turbocharging it seems to have that:

Camera is purported to be pretty awesome but that's a wait and see. The screen should be identical PPI. And it has fast charging via that USB C 3.0, but it isn't called TurboCharging because that's a Moto name. I'm actually happier to not have an SD Card slot, but my MXPE does have it obviously.

Moto X Pure Edition... Like It or Love It?

I currently have the Moto X Pure Edition. I upgraded from the Moto X2. Although I love the Moto X2 as much as the original Moto X I have yet to love the new one. I like it but yet don't love it. There is anyone out there in the same boat as me? I just pre-order the Nexus 6P so I can make my mind on which phone will provide me with a better experience... Am I crazy?

So really the only true difference is SD card and Fingerprint scanner.

GSM Arena has the Nexus 6P PPI: 518
GSM Arena has the Moto X PPI: 520

It's different :p
