Moto X Pure leaving?

So, I hear they're doing away with the Moto X Pure and moving to the Moto Z as a replacement? Why? Isn't this going to cause the price point to increase by almost 50%?

I ask because last years model was priced fairly.

Is this confirmed? Last I read they didn't completely do away with the X line. At least not yet anyway.

They are selling the third gen Moto X alongside the new Moto Z. There will be no new Moto X this year.
