Looking at the release notes it will have both moto display and ambient display. Best of both worlds!

If you turn on ambient display it turns off moto display, you have to pick one or the other(or neither if you prefer) but you can't have both running at the same time.

According to Ars Technica, this likely means the Moto X will get Lollipop before any of the Nexus phones. I find that highly amusing. I remember the anger in the Nexus 4 forum when the 2013 Moto X started getting KitKat before it, this may well blow some peoples' minds.

The 2014 Moto X Pure Edition users who are on the Motorola Feedback Network got the update for the Android 5.0 Lollipop! But its just the next-to-final build. Its there to see if any bugs are there! But that means other Moto X users(like us) will get the update very soon, before the Nexus 5 most likely....your thoughts?

I like active display as is. Very low to almost no impact in battery and gives me all the info I need.

So if they do integrate ambient display I hope it's optional.

It is optional. I'm with you, Moto Display is more useful to me.

Does the X battery will get better on lollipop? If yes I will consider buy this instead of nexus 6 because I like how I can customize my phone.. Thanks.

Been wondering how much of the supposed lollipop battery improvements will be negated by the new white background UI AMOLED drain. Understand wanting to have a new design look, but not at a power expense with no functionality difference.

Me too. I'm perfectly happy with Moto Display and am glad I will be able to turn off Ambient Display since it doesn't appear to offer any benefit over Moto Display.

Yahoo News reporting that LG G3, Samsung S4 & S5, Nexus 5 getting the first Lollipop roll outs. I figured Moto would beat them all but I guess not.
