Moto X vs. LG G2

Re: Any LG G2 owners compare to Moto X?

Yeah I'm worried about the size too. I will report back after this weekend with my findings.

And I know this is the MX forum so we will continue the praises of a truly great phone.

Re: Any LG G2 owners compare to Moto X?

Got my G2 on Thursday and first impression is it's on then very edge of the size I'm comfortable with. I'm a phone geek so I've had the S4, One, Note 3, Lumias 920, 925, &1020, and MX in the last 18 months. Quickly resold the androids until the MX won me back from WP, and even though the G2 is large because of the black bezels it somehow doesn't look as big as the S4 or One. It's actually a very similar shape as the MX just bigger.

Camera seems excellent as reported but there is a focus lag similar to the MX. The bottom back bottom doubles as a physical shutter button and launches camera from phone off and that's a feature I miss from WP. I was spoiled with the lumia cameras so the MX was a real challenge for me.

I struggled with APN settings for awhile because I have the unlocked tmo version and I'm running it on at&t prepaid. Also some trouble with Microsoft exchange email but have that working now too. MMS and LTE working and connecting to my 3g microcell flawlessly.

I've already rooted it and installed the Xposed framework with the G2 tweaks to clean up some of the heavy handed LG UI. Also installed Google keyboard immediately and even though it's basic it just works.

The large screen is really nice and colors pop. The MX screen looks so small now!!

I think I will give this phone a few weeks and see if the MX calls me back. I've always liked a smaller phone and the form factor of the MX is the best there is IMHO. Will report back...

Re: Any LG G2 owners compare to Moto X?

Thanks for testimonials in this topic, made me more comfortable. I think that I will not regret having purchased a Moto X. Even though the difference was little to get a LG G2 or Xperia Z1.

Re: Any LG G2 owners compare to Moto X?

I love my MX but am drawn to the LG G2 for the screen size and much better camera. Can anybody share personal experience with the G2 relative to the MX?

Specifically;
Knock on/off vs active notifications?
Camera comparison real world?
Touchless control vs Whatever LG uses, google now perhaps?
LG UI additions that might be of interest?

ps. not looking for moral support on a decision, just curious if the G2 may be a better fit for my personal usage.

My wife just got a G2. It is really nice, I'm a little tempted myself, but I love always listening too much to leave. I'll work on a real world side by side camera comparison in the next couple days

Must be hard someone abandon a Moto X. I think the Moto X is the best definition of a smartphone. I'm curious if we'll have the Moto X 2.

Moto has already stated that the next version of the Moto X will arrive by the end of summer. I'm on my phone so I don't have a link handy.

Ha! Give me some time to write a review, its a longish story but the short is I'm using a nexus 5 now.

Just got my mom (late 40's) and brother (10yrs old) to switch from apple. My moms only smartphones were apple as well as my brothers first phone a 3gs (currently using).

Got mom a lg g2 32gb in white.
Got brother a moto X 16gb in white.

Gonna do some charge cycles with medium usage and see whats up with what.

My brother is an official Android fan. That moto x is a great phone. Battery life is meh, build quality feels like I could throw it at the wall and it would be just fine. When I pick this phone up it just feels natural. Screen is vivid and bright. Colors don't seem washed out. Camera blows like it's the fifth and rents due four days ago. Phone is very "snappy" and responsive. HATE on screen buttons, personal preference.

Lg g2, battery life is redonculous, screen is bright, clear and vivid. Build quality feels sub par. Feels like I'm holding an iPhone first Gen. But it's light, maybe too light? Back buttons are no problem at all and actually feel very natural, even for a lefty. HATE on screen buttons, personal preference.

If I HAD to choose I would say moto x.

Only reason is the fact of how sturdy this phone feels. Camera problems are software related and don't know why they haven't been fixed through an update.

Would not voluntarily buy either phone due to on screen buttons being a deal breaker (unless I could somehow remove the buttons entirely, not just make invisible. Or if I could replace with gestures either by alternative launcher or by rooting).
Also, non removable battery would keep either of these phones from being my "daily driver".

I am surprised to hear you saying the battery life is meh on the x! I have had the LG G2 and switched to the Moto X and at the moment fell there is a slight edge to the battery life on the Moto X. As for the beautiful screen and great camera on the G2 i concur but other then that it was always borderline size wise for me and the phone felt a smidgen to big to hold comfortably. Like was mentioned here previously the G2 felt snappier in the beginning and after putting on some apps and using it for a bit the phone got slower somehow. Now that i have active display and the drive assist plus the touchless controls i don't think i can ever use a phone without them and be completely satisfied. The only downside is i picked up the white and i seem to regret not choosing black but that is obviously a taste preference.

Received both phones same day, fresh out the box only turned on to plug in and charge to 100% with all options turned off like nfc and Bluetooth and everything else I could think of with no accounts linked or anything. Gestures, Google now, everything turned off. Both phones basically in "ipod" mode. Moto X went from 100% to 84% in 18hrs, lg g2 went from 100% to 98% in 18hrs (both phones "sleeping" for 18hrs with no Sim in).

I feel like the LG g2 is for people that like to say "look at my phone look at my phone"

I feel like the moto x is made for a collage kid, or a person that is trying to be productive in life by including technology to enhance it.

There's nothing like the words from a kid saying "I don't know how I lived with an iPhone for a year" (what my brother said after using Google now for five minutes) .

Better yet,

I feel like you have to work the LG g2.

But I feel like the moto X works for you.

I've had both phones, LG G2 is the better one, hands down.

The battery life is insane on G2, then the camera, the screen. These 3 factors sealed the deal over the Moto X.

Agreed, I'm back to g2 over MX and couple months with a N5. Battery life, camera, custom roms, screen...

I'll be back to moto with the x+1 but this time with the dev edition. Love xposed with gravity box!
