Moto X Won't Charge after Drain to Zero?

The process described here by numerous posters worked very well in "salvaging" my Moto E:

  1. Connect Moto E to charging
  2. Press vol down key for about 30 sec.
  3. Then simultaneously press Vol down and Power Button for 3 Minutes.
  4. Your Phone will start charging.

A couple of observations:
Firstly, Like all here I had run the battery down low before the Moto E wouldn't recharge.
Secondly I had the "dead" MotoE hooked up and "charging" for 3 h before I tried the above; using the AC/DC adapter & cable that came with the unit. When charging normally, the adapter hums very quietly and heats up slightly, which it was not doing during the 3 h.
But, when I then tried the procedure above, after the three minutes (with a small delay in which I thought I was stuffed) the screen came up with what looked like an old mostly-black DOS screen with small writing and several apparent selections one could make as to resetting the unit. I didn't know what to do, or which to select. But that choice was made for me, as after about 2-3 min. that screen disappeared and the MotoE booted up just like normal and started to charge (quiet humming and mild heat from charger). All good now. :) Thanks all!

My MOTO E battery got drained to zero percent and now its not charging. Its like an hour and it is still showing zero percent. When ever i press power up button, screen lits up and says zero percent, nothing more than that. I tried the method of pressing the power on and volume button also, but it is not working.

Please Help

Moto E Won't recognize any charger or data cable.

Hi,
Greetings. I have gone through all the discussion in this forum. I have the same problem but in a different way. Now my battery is 0%, When i put it on charge it starts charging, after some time a screen comes where a question mark inside a battery comes up (means unable to identify charger). if i removes and reconnects the charger it again charges from 0%. and after sometimes it automatically boots where i see in the main screen it shows connect your charger after a successful boot where in i have already connected. I tried your steps but after doing it shows me the same in a symbolic way to connect charger. Please help me out of this.
Thanks and Believe.

See response in your other thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...-my-moto-e-recognizing-charger-after-0-a.html

I thought initially what a dumb suggestion. Nowhere on Google was it mentioned. But to my surprise it actually worked. Thanks a lot bro... You saved me tons of misery!!!

Connect Moto E to charging
Press vol down key for about 30 sec.
Then simultaneously press Vol down and Power Button for 3 Minutes.
Your Phone will start charging.

Do these steps work for Moto X2 as well? Please help.

worked great! Had tried 4 different chargers, car a wall charger a turbo charger and from my P.C. none were even showing that the phone was getting a charge (nothing blank screen no power)
Was linked to my P.C. when I did the reset suggested then have jumped it over to turbo once it showed signs of life.
Saved my droid THANK YOU!

My motoxpaly battery is fully drained up .After that I kept for charging for more than a day but still it is not crossing 1% .What is the issue and How I can resolve this ??

after draining to zero my phone didnt started even after charging for 9 hrs even more the white light nw has gone
Please help me now

I tried this method successfully (holding down the volume down button for 30 sec then the power + volume down for 30+ seconds) before months ago and it DID boot my phone up after having the green light of death on all night; tried it last night and nothing would happen - it wouldn't even show me my battery status; only that sad green light. I left it on the charger all night and tried the method again this morning with no effect. It was only when I pulled the charger from the base of the phone that it started booting up like normal and then showed only 8% battery life, so I would suggest trying this method and then if it doesn't work, trying different chargers.

I followed the below suggestion:
Connect Moto E to charging
Press vol down key for about 30 sec.
Then simultaneously press Vol down and Power Button for 3 Minutes.
Your Phone will start charging.

I was able to get the phone to turn on, but it immediately powered off. I was charging it via my laptop as recommended and it wouldn't charge. Any suggestions now?

THAT ACTUALLY WORKED.

I woke up and found my moto x play turned off. so I plugged it into the wall charger. NOT working.
just showing the battery low icon.
googled for same. found this trick. tried it
and it WORKED.
I phone is rooted, so I reached to the bootloader screen, then it was showing charging. GOT relief. Kept it for a while. then turned on the Phone.
MAGIC... back to normal.

I have a moto x 2nd gen, I've tried almost everything you people mentioned but for me, the phone doesn't even show percentage on the battery image, its empty and has the charging icon, after which it shuts down . I can't get it to power up because it shuts down everytime. I can enter safe mode but when choosing Normal startup or Recovery it either shows the logo or battery icon then it shuts down..
Occasionally it turns on by itself after choosing recovery but nothing after that. I'll try leaving it overnight to charge, and plugging it in my laptop's usb maybe that works. Any ideas so far? My situation is super weird. Sometimes the green led would light up after I tried turning it on, and this other time I came back after leaving it to charge and the green led light would stay on for a long time, after which it went off. I've been stressed on this issue for 2 days now :(

Update: It booted fine the whole time, the screen turns off after boot for some reason. Screen works in safe mode and while logo displays but after vibration it goes off. I could take screenshots or open and close the lock screen and hear the sounds they make. Just ignore my reply here.
