I bought this from Verizon in March 2017, so it's about a year and a half old. I used to get almost 2 days general use on my battery. Now I turbocharge it full up in the morning, and it says I have 3 days left, and by the end of the day it's under 20%. I can't swear to it, but I have a strong feeling it got worse after Verizon pushed the Oreo upgrade, about midsummer. I do occasionally forget it's on the charger and let it get to 100% which I know is a bad idea. But I'd like to know 2 things:

1. Is Oreo a battery use hit? My battery usage just doesn't show any single thing using all that much, but charge just drops like a rock.

2. Are there any battery optimization apps that actually work? I'm trying AccuBatt but frankly it's a little confusing.

Here is an example. I factory reset it and put it away. I bought a Z2 Force. I recently turned the Z Force on and signed into my Google account over WiFi only. No SIM card installed, no Play Store apps whatsoever. Just the stock phone on Oreo running the stock apps. The battery was at 50% within 6 hours. Google Play Services and Android OS were chewing through battery like crazy. That has to be a faulty Android OS update, right?

It sure looks like it, especially since Google Play Services and Android OS are the biggest battery eaters on my Z Force also. The interesting thing about all this is that my husband bought a Pixel 2 at the end of last year, and he's had no battery trouble, and has now been upgraded to Pie. So is it Oreo or is it the Z Force? And is there a fix?

There is a reason Google pushed out 8.1. was 8.0 that buggy? I don't know. Is there a fix? I'm not sure. I was so frustrated with 8.0 that I bought a new phone. My Z2 Force runs 8.0 also. But it was shipped with it, not upgraded from 7.1 and it runs fine.
