Hi.....while driving and when the phone reads the incoming text message, does it also give you the option to reply to the text message all while being handsfree or do you have to physically touch the phone to reply?
What I remember (it's only been a couple of texts so far, and a couple of days ago) is that for a text it:
Announces who is sending the text
Reads the text
Asks you if you want to send a text (to that person).
I do know that if you answer "send a text" to that last question, it simply sends the automated "I'm driving will get back to you later" text. I don't remember that it gives you the option of dictating a different text message.
On the other hand (assuming my memory is correct), you could then follow up by doing an "OK Google Now Send Text to XXX" and dictate a new text at that point. So you can definitely send a reply text totally hands free whether or not it allows you to do it right from that original text or if you have to initiate a new one.
I've used the OK Google Now to send texts, and it works very well - assuming it can understand you and that the recipient is not ambiguous. I'm gradually working on my contacts to make them less ambiguous, or at least remember exactly how my contacts are listed. My wife, for instance, shares a first name with a few other contacts I have, so I have relisted her with her last name! She saw that and gave me grief, until I explained it to her
