Motorola bedside dock mode possible on a non-motorola phone?

Many moons ago, I had a Motorola Backflip, which I LOVED at first, and then it became apparent that the processor couldn't handle the newer apps. Anyway, when you turned it on its side, it went into a mode I have seen called bedside mode, desk mode, clock mode, and dock mode. It was dim and had color and style choices, used an alarm clock, could show pictures, and show weather. I'd LOVE to find an app that would allow me to install that same mode on a phone of another brand. If this is absolutely not possible, does the droid 3 have the same mode>? I loved the soft color choices and dimming effects.
