Motorola Camera: Are you using 21MP or 16MP (widescreen)?

I know that it's personal preference, but which mode do you use... Standard 21 mega pixel, or Wide screen 16.1 mega pixel?

Out of habit i use the wide. I really couldn't tell you how much of a difference there is in actually photo quality.

There is no difference in quality of the photos because they both use the full width of the sensor.

4:3 Standard uses all of the sensor, the 16:9 Wide Screen mode crops a bit from the top and the bottom.

It's like the black bands you would see watching a wide screen movie on an old tube TV. Except your not zooming out to see the wide picture, you're just covering part of the standard picture with black bands.

It's really a choice of how you want to frame your shots. I prefer the 16:9 by default because it matches the phone display and uses less megapixels and therefore less memory.

In certain situations I might switch to 4:3 - depending on the subject or how I plan to display the photo, a more square ratio might be better.
