I am wondering will it hold the X in place vertically.

I have always thought all these wide screen GPS should be taller, not wider... would rather see where I am going than so much off to my right and left where I am not going...

I've been using one of these for a while now and I like it. It can rotate pretty much however you want it to, but the most important thing to me is that it works with just about any smartphone so I won't need to replace it every year or two.

The downside is that I need to connect the power and audio cables manually, but that's really not a hassle (usually I don't bother with the power and I have a 3.5mm cable looped around the base). If you're interested it's pretty easy to modify to add a small magnet to put it into car dock mode, but I don't really see the need myself.

The Motorola does work in an angle you want. There is a ring in the back that you can loosen and rotate the unit any way you want.
