Motorola Droid Turbo: Bugs, quirks, problems and more

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo: Bugs, quirks, problems and more - Hotspot not working

I've seen this on a bunch of different forums, but didn't see it here yet. Many people (including myself) are reporting that the wifi hotspot feature is not working. When you try to enable it give a message that your order could not be processes and you need to subscribe to Mobile Hotspot. I called verizion. They verified I have mobile hotspot in my share everything plan. Then got me to second level support who finally put in a ticket to engineering. We'll wait to see what they say.

mine worked, out of the box

Command Center showing wrong appointment times
I have the stock CC on my Turbo, running stock Launcher3. My question is how or even can I configure it. The 3 small dots on right of command center circle open the sides, 3 dots on left close it. When open it shows appointment times for appointments not on my personal calendar but apparently of all who share a calendar with me. I need to have a dozen co-worker calendars shared and synced with me, but to unclutter (when not needed), not all of them are set to display in the calendar program. My wife's is always displayed. How do I (can I?) configure Command Center to show only the appointments for my calendar? On a new phone I typically want to give stock a chance, this keeps me from bringing work-arounds from previous phones to a phone that doesn't need it. However though I look the Command Center app otherwise, this is a deal killer and I'll have to load one of my previously purchased widgets in place (none of those tell me how many minutes till it starts/stops raining at the location I am currently at).

Immediately replaced People app with Contacts +, Dialer + and the Messages + free apps. The problem with the stock dialer (phone) is it always opens to the speed dial screen that apparently auto populates with most frequently/recently called. That doesn't help me, setting favorites on that app not an option so I moved on.
Thx!
Allen

I find that the lock screen "slide to unlock" is a bit laggy. I had this with my droid maxx too. I came from the note 3 with no unlock lag at all.

The volume is too low. My X the volume could be so loud it'd hear my ears..the Turbo I'm pushing the phone in my ear trying to hear people. I'm hoping this can be fixed via software update? The Wi-Fi isn't as good either. My brother had a MAXX and just returned his turbo today as he couldn't connect to our wifi as far as his MAXX would. My turbo is the same way but I'm a lot closer to our router and range extender so I'm fine but the earpiece is a problem for me. Could these things be improved via a software update or do you think that's purely hardware related?

I am on my second Turbo since their intro. Same problem in both. The home and back buttons both stop working occasionally. Continued pressing sometimes works, other times I gave up and pressed power to start over. Updates to the OS did not fix it. Verizon tech support has never heard of the problem. Did find that HTC experienced this on some models in the past according to web postings.---- Discovered the problem: I was gripping the case more firmly because of the slippery metal case. The skin from the base of my thumb was touching a portion of the front screen. That made the buttons inactive.

There are at least 2 Turbo threads about this topic with suggestions to improve it. Check those out.

My phone has reset itself at least once a day since I got it last week.
Anyone way to track down whats causing it?

are there any good quality volume booster apps for the turbo.it doesn't matter if I have to pay for them.i have volume+ but it doesn't work on the turbo.also how do I get my old pic from my razr maxx to my turbo?the vzw guy said I could "migrate"......my info from my old phone to the turbo that I got.

Since I have been running ART on my Moto X(13) I switch my new Turbo to ART as well... Everytime I boot the phone it goes to the screen ANDROID IS UPGRADING with a countdown of about 62 apps. So switched back to DALVIK and works fine. However this never happened with my MOTO X(13).

Try turning off Voice Privacy from within the Phone app. Also turn off Audio effects from within sound settings. This should help.

Home screen being on the left is because Launcher 3 is basically a stripped down version of the Goole Now Launcher. Operates the same, except the GNL has the Left-most screen being Google Now. While GNL has a "Settings", it's only for GN features.

I'm having an issue with Moto Voice that I can't speak my phrase. It won't let me make one because everytime I try it says it's too loud even though I'm in a completely silent room.

With my screen on I can say Ok, Google and Google Now works just fine. Only Moto Assist.

Okay, I'll ask the stupid question. What's the difference between basic visual voice mail and this new thing? Edit: Also, is basic visual VM a Turbo exclusive, or does everyone on Verizon get it now? There used to be a fee (like $3 per month?).

The Visual Voicemail app is what you see in Google Voice. It attempts to translate voice messages into text, so that you can read instead of listen to it. The only reason why I use the word "attempts" is because both VVM and GV never correctly translate every word. Sometimes it's good when you can get the jist of a message by taking a glance at the translated text, but I find myself listening to the message anyway, because of the hack-job deciphering.

I was having bad wifi and lte reception with the original ballisticTurbo I purchased. After talking with tier 2 support they said the device is DOA to exchange at the store where I bought it. I went back to store the next day and told them tier 2 said it was a DOA. They promptly went in the back and got a new one. Since then all good on the wifi and lte reception. Honestly it was the best in store experience I've ever had.

Thanks Masheen! I've had these same speaker issues going back to my Droid Razr M. Spent way too much time on Moto forums...that's why I've got a (few) screw(s) loose. :P

The biggest "problem" I've had so far is that the touchscreen will have random touches. I haven't been able to replicate it on the multitouch tester app but while drawing on Snapchat I've witnessed small lines being "drawn". They're only a pixel or two (since this screen is so dense) wide but they stretch maybe half an inch.

I'll be scrolling through Feedly or Twitter and next thing I know a link is opened or favorited. With that being said it's gotten better and maybe I wasn't fully used to the screen size bump from my M7 but it still doesn't explain the pixel drawing.

I've been having issues with the responsiveness of the screen and lock screen when using gestures. Almost like the screen isn't sensitive enough. Also, today I was on a call and the recipient said I was breaking up. I never had that problem with the maxx in my house. I will keep monitoring that situation.
