You don't need to do any of that from the computer. That is the old, hard way of doing things. Follow the advice of Jared DiPane above and just go to Droidmod.org on your phone and download the dmupdater.apk and load it directly on your phone. It will automatically create all the correct directories on your SDCard, root your phone, and then you can also choose to load the updated ROM if you want. Oh, and it backs everything up as well, just in case and you can use the same app to load the stock 2.0.1 again if you want. Start to finish, including downloading the app is perhaps 5 minutes. Just make sure you have Wi-Fi turned on. Don't bother to mess with the adb shell and the SDK. It isn't necessary and its just too unreliable.
