Question Motorola G2025 Fingerprint Selection Disappeared

In the morning my Motorola G 2025 was operating fine. In the afternoon the fingerprint reader stopped working and when I went into Settings/Privacy & Security/Device Unlock the selection to setup fingerprint usage had totally disappeared as an option. All other options were available. I reset the phone to factory settings and that did not cause it to reappear. I checked and there was no software/system update so it is totally unknown why it occurred nor do I have any idea of how to fix it.

I had to look it up but I agree I'm not seeing any updates for this device, nor am I seeing other complaints for this issue. Since you're so able to pinpoint when this occurred, did you install any other apps around this time?

Are you using an antivirus, any malware or other security apps that weren't built into the phone?

I know you said your factory reset already but I would suggest that you factory reset, without the option to restore apps. This will give you the cleanest reset. With no other apps on the phone there should be nothing that could interfere with the system function. If it were me, I might try another regular reset, with app restore, just to be sure that something didn't glitch or bug out during the first one. If that fails, then the reset without restore. If that fails again you might consider pursuing a warranty claim.

Not sure that customer no service would have any other suggestions, but you might consider reaching out to Moto customer service on this matter.

That sounds like a hardware failure, so I agree with VidJunky -- since it's a 2025 phone, contact Moto sooner rather than later for warranty repair (before it expires).

They have been having this issue since 2023 from what I can tell from Moto's own support forum , like other suggestions give them a call .

Just make sure no 3rd party lock screen or anything enabled in accessibility for lock screen, even look up device administrator in settings see what's there
