Motorola not satisfied with Android?

I doubt Moto is ready to scrap Android, they might be looking to tweak it to make it differnt from the other Android versions. Why scrap all the things that Android brings the biggest the Market. If you don't have a solid Market of Apps you are not going to beat Apple or other Android makers. Most likely they are going to use the Android core OS and tweal the UI.

why do I keep seeing people writing about how the xoom was released to early and the OS is buggy, infant or what ever the word of the day is.
To tell the truth, its the best running platform so far.

What devices have you used in the past? Don't get me wrong I love my xoom but I get more force closes on it then both my other adroid phones.

I get a lot of force closures too. I think that is because a lot of apps haven't been updated yet for honeycomb.

I know Motorola is stupid but I don't think they are stupid enough to not use Android at this point. It's not logical for them to try to develop yet another mobile platform from scratch nowadays. They will need to built another app store type of platform for it to work. The chance for them to become success with this strategy is almost impossible. It's true right now it needs to compete with all the other Android manufactures but what will change if they trying to push their own phone OS? They will still be competing every everybody else, the difference is that they will spend millions on developing this new OS. I believe they hired all the engineers is to trying to make better Android customization.

Think Back to the Apple and IBM PC

If you remember when Apple came out and controlled the market, back in the 80's. Then IBM came out with the PC which was as we know it today Open Architecture. Then came the IBM Clone, and the market shifted.

Why, well a lot of it was maybe the marketing by IBM and Apple but both lost to the "Clones" which now dominate the market place. IBM now makes only big computers (where they started) and Apple is still in the Closed Arch. and now has to fight off the Android Operating systems and the many manufactures.

As for Motorola, I just hope their Marketing people have say and can keep Moto in the lead.

I think the world is different now. In the '80s, it was just the beginning and there was nothing established yet in the PC realm. The atmosphere was open to complete newness and even craziness (hey, I owned a Sinclair Timex 1000).

Today, more is established and I think total newness is less likely. Not to say it doesn't happen, just that it doesn't seem to happen with the same freedom as in the '80s. Of course, this is a bit of an irony, since we live in a world of greater possibility today.
