Wondering if anyone has done a phone exchange for glass breakage?

Didnt know Motorola offered it? Phone was dropped and screen broke, Motorola sent me a special code and link, they charge $125 and issue a brand new phone that will come next Thursday and you can change the design though MotoMaker for no extra charge..

They also require you to send in the broken phone and if they don't get it they charge $500 to your credit card.

Just wondering if any had had to replace and how it worked for you?

Last any ideas how to wipe a phone clean if you cant see the screen?

If you've got Android Device Manager set up on your phone, or any other similar app, you can wipe the contents using that.

And is it just me, or is anybody else getting slightly concerned about the amount of people who seem to be smashing their screens?

I'm not concerned I have dropped this phone more than any other smartphone and it doesn't have a mark on it.

I dropped mine just last week and it did just fine - no problems. I do have a Cimo case on it, though.

I'm going naked, that's why I'm kinda concerned. Normally I use a case, but i don't wanna cover up a phone that I've gone to the trouble of customising and is generally a good looking phone. I know I'm taking a chance but...

Have never broken a phone this was the 1st and have dropped Moto X a few times on the back but this was on the glass on a jetway coming off a plane in New York City which as a rubber coating on the floor and just shattered the whole screen. It was in a i-Blason case which was useless.

I am using the back up Moto X gen 1 do I need to move the sim card back to the broken phone and then use device manager?

It should not have any effect on the Moto X 1 when I move the sim card back right?

SIM Card will work perfectly. I did this and hop back and forth between my 2nd and 1st gen X. Just make sure both are powered off when you do the swap. Bout up the 1st gen and you should be good.

I have the Moto Care accident protection, and I used it back on my old moto x once. It was nice to send the $35 in and get a brand new phone. My claim was not for a broken screen though.

+1 on Moto Care. Cost is $85 for 2 years and if you cancel at any time, they refund prorated portion (less any claims you have made).

My wife dropped her Moto X back in September and the screen shattered. Called Moto and they charged her $100 for a replacement. We do not have any type of insurance on it.
