Motorola Posts Solution for SMART PROFILE killing the ringer.

gebo......it's not that big of a deal to do the factory reset. all of your contact will come right back on the phone when you enter the backup assistant password.
as for your aps, you can just go intothe market and look at your "downloads." it'll give you a list of all of your previously dl'd apps....making it easier for you to redownload them.

the longest part of the reset is getting all your widgets and shortcuts setup.

It is if you only used Blackberry Desktop Manager to save your contacts
Yikes!!

I have now learned to use Appbrain as my app backup. Although I believe your suggestion on retrieving apps would work fine. The only issue would be if I lost or broke my X. I'm thinking Appbrain is to apps like Backup Assistant is to contacts. AM I correct?

As an aside, my Son wasn't home to help me.

Backup assistant did not work for me. It only backed up 16 of my 500+ contacts. I installed MIQ from the marketplace and it did a full backup that I verified on-line before I did the factory reset.

Bottom line for me was AppBrain for my apps, MIQ for everything else, and the only thing I had to do was re-install widgets.

Itlan, It worked.

Itlan, you fix worked for me the first, second, and third times I tried it. I wantedto make sure that it worked so I enabled my Smart Profile(no so smart as it turns out to be) again and tried the procedure. Thanks for the tip.
