Motorola releasing new Sprint phone; Moto Photon 4G

O man, they better release Bionics spec and form factor before June 9th.

Man Moto is such a bad company. Ran by idiots, i swear.

I feel the same way. The combination of Motorola's slow engineering and Verizon's endless testing process makes for an insanely annoying waiting process for people like me.

Does anyone know the specific issues that Tegra 2 had with the LTE chips that Verizon is using? If Verizon can somehow get this thing out within the next month, that would be a godsend, but I don't see it happening until July or August. Verizon needs to speed up its verification process for phones or else early adopters are going to start switching to carriers that can provide them with cutting-edge technology the quickest.

Omg im just so giddy right now with the thought of moving to Sprint.

So i checked up on their plan, it is $79.99 for the unlimited data plan with 450 minutes. Can someone tell me how much that comes out to after taxes?

i know verizon charges up the butt with taxes.

I'm thinking something along the lines of that rumored Atrix on sprint we heard about(;

I would suspect that the taxes would be the same. They're probably state/local/federal taxes that have to be charged regardless of carrier. So, I'd just assume that same as what you're paying now.

Actually i just asked the sprint foums, people who are paying for that plan is just paying under $10 for taxes, no hidden fees.

Whereas my verizon bill is close to $40 on taxes and hidden fees. So yea......

Taxes I'm sure are the same though. Don't know how Verizon can charge any tax that Sprint doesn't. It's not Verizon that is requiring it, it's the governement. Don't know about "hidden fees".

source it up

edit: nvm i see it, i cannot WAITTT

How brave of them to do the conference during E3 week, and just 3 days after Apples confernce on June 6th

Sprint and Motorola to Host Luncheon Press Event June 9th

The possiblity of moving to Sprint is kind of exciting to me.

Im also assuming the Sprint Xoom will be on hand.

Also i get the feeling that alot of companies are mad at VZW right now after they took in iPhone 4 and forgot everyone else. Hence why VZW lineup is starting to look terribad as opposed to all the nice stuff originally planned before VZW announced iphone for VZW

I have to agree. Honestly, I think they would have more customers in the long-run if they had never got the iPhone. The market was already reaching the point where Android was more popular than iOS as a whole, and if VZW had passed on Apple and focused more heavily on Android, the iPhone would have slowly lost popularity, out of sight, out of mind. There's a ton of dedicated Android users, and many people who switched from iOS to it.

But any amount of support for Apple allows their hype-machine to continue to grow. One more opportunity for people to go "ZOMG, iPhone might be coming, I want and must have RIGHT NOW! When it will it have a white back???" and for Apple to play off of that. If they had passed altogether they would have had a much stronger Android lineup at this point, and people would be clamoring for that. As it is, I'm stuck settling with the beautiful but outclassed Charge, or hoping beyond all hope that the Bionic will release in June after all before the death of unlimited data.

I'm not an iPhone hater, but its very annoying to me how much hype it has vs. its actual functionality. And the commercials, gah, I can't stand the commercials. Regardless, its not likely to happen, but I honestly think it would be a wise move for VZW to dump the iPhone. They talk about having caps, switching to tiered data, dumping one-year, etc. being related to the iPhone, and they still act like the network will be bogged down by them. So let them go elsewhere if that's what they want, and VZW can go back to the way they used to be, when everyone wanted to switch because it was not only the greatest network, but right up there with Sprint in terms of customer service. Focus heavily on Android devices, and get everyone so excited about them that they forget about the iPhone, its time in the sun is over.

But I doubt it'll ever happen.

It is what it is. Im jsut asking for any additional fees that not out right stated. In this case Sprint will be under $90 for me after all the hidden fees and tax, whereas if i got a similiar plan with verizon, the base price will be more expensive, in addition to all the hidden fees and taxes.

Verizons plan actually looks decent, then once the hidden fees come in, not so much anymore.

From my experinece with the test unit. Charge is a great device. I like that they went with physical buttons. It feels great. i hear battery life is amazing. What i dont like is the UI, are they using touch wiz 4.0 like the SII?

Its isnt the most attractive phone but it looks decent. And it isnt made of alluminum, but who really does that anymore except Moto.

The best (and most consistent) advice I've heard is to choose your carrier, then choose your phone. If Sprint looks better than Verizon considering cost, coverage, customer service, etc., then go for it. But, I wouldn't choose Sprint over Verizon just because of the phones though.

I actually like the physical buttons too. I like them much better than the touchscreen ones. And it only has TouchWiz 3.0, not 4.0.

I like the buttons on the Incredible 2.. how it also turns when you rotate the phone. It's a cool feature.

True us Sprint customers pay about 10 dollars in taxes, but there is a "hidden" fee: the 10 dollar Premium Data *cough-4G-cough* Fee.

Nah its not hidden. Its an added cost but not hidden. It stated outright that they are charing that extra right now. Thats why i previously said 79.99, even though the plan is 69.99 plus the $10.

The same plan on verizon would cost me 120ish after its all said and done.

Actually, this phone will be a great buy. Motorola makes the best communication devices so voice and data should be smooth I concur. You can't beat paying around 90 dollars for 450 minutes and (truly) unlimited internet and texts... I almost sold out to AT&T and bought the Atrix, which is little brother of this phone. Good thing I waited, AT&T is garbage in my area; it's wonderful when you have a signal but the connection drops out too frequently. After the updates the Atrix ran as smooth as butter with no hiccups. I've never played with the Droid X, Cliq, etc. a enough to get a real feel of them but Motoblur seems to always get attacked. However, if the rumors were true about Motoblur, then Motorola must've finally perfected it as it was the first phone that I felt that I could enjoy that didn't have a physical qwerty keyboard (I came to Android from Blackberry). I can only imagine how good this phone will be...
