so I have a pair of these and thought what the heck, let's plug them in and see what they do. Sure enough it triggers high impedance with this phone. Sound quality is amazing. So if you have a pair of these laying around try it out.

I have the sol Republic v8 headphones and they trigger high impotence as well. Also have the b&o he earbuds from the promo. Absolute ****.. Cord looks like it should be off of a cheep pair of Maxwells and rarely, if ever, trigger high impotence..

Update: got high impedance to work.. According to someone in another thread, the jack can be covered in a light wax coating from the factory. Insert jack into port and twist back and forth for a little to work it off, maybe in an old phone or a device that you don't use the audio jack on. I did mine in the V20 only due to lack of anything else.

Sorry for the innocent question here? Where does it say "high impedance" ??

I did notice static from the connection once when I moved the jack. Wonder if that was the coating.

The B&O H3 earbuds are not high impedance and should not trigger high impedance mode. They are only 18 ohms.

get a trrs 4 conductor male to female headphone adapter it will kick in high impedence mode.will work with any ear bud headphone use this on my v10 to got on ebay paid 8 dollars for 2.got back in may

Is it good to use the wrong impedance?

your just tricking your phone I use my jbl ear buds at work in high mode dont want to ruin my good head phones.this phone is made to kick in at a higher level when you plug in a higher price set of headphones.you can get the same effect with cheaper ear buds when you dont want to ruin your good headphones at work.I work on my cars I wear the skull candy ear buds they sound great.at home I use my sony professional over ear phones.and my 40 year old project one over year these 2 without the adapter.we did the same thing back in the old days on our old kenwood .marantz home steroes.if it was rated at 250 watts per channel at 8 olms we would run 6 or 4 olm speakers to 400 watts a channel.which makes the music sound much better.we tricked the stereo.just like the phone.

The caution for tricking the phone into thinking it had high impedance headphones plugged in is it could over drive the speakers and blow them prematurely. So I don't know I'd go trying this with any headphones/ear buds you plan to keep.
