Kind of reminds me of the megapixel wars that camera makers were having for a while. It actually didn't improve image quality much after a certain megapixel level because the sensor size remained the same, and packing more megapixels in just degraded the image. So just because you can pump the numbers up doesn't mean you should or have to.

Sigh idk they are taking baby steps but it will slightly confuse the in informed consumer and with Nost people not being complete nerds the slim ness of the device with a true HD screen Kevlar backing its solid remember high end mid and lower ends of the spectrum is at play here if its just like an old beat up car if you can slightly tweak it and put a bigger engine in it same shell slightly modified but under the hood a monster on steroids so it makes since to me

Saw a video that said 1.5. On that video they demonstrated a white one with a 2500mah battery which should go head to head with GS3 in appearance and performance. The regular max with a 2000 for basic users that like the design but don't want to pay a premium. The M for the economy crowd and the Maxx for us heavyweights willing to pay the premium. They will have all the different demographics cover in one basic design and probably couldn't give a crap which one out sells the other as long as they sell a lot of them Nothing wrong with that plan.

Think of it like a car dealership. They tend to offer a line up of choices not just one car. If they only offered their flagship vehicle at 70k, they wouldn't sell very many cars. Instead they market the Viper right along side the Caravan and the Neon. Why, to give everyone choices. Bringing out the Maxx after the reg Razr was the wrong move. Pissed off people that wanted the choice. My wife and I got our Razr s at the same time. She wanted the white thin one & I wanted the battery. Give people what they want which is actually a choice, unlike Apple, and offer a solid device then you should create a good customer base for yourself. I think they are doing this right this time.

Again, the MAXX of either phone wouldn't exist if the RAZRs had removable batteries.

I disagree. The typical phone user is NOT going to carry around 2 batteries. It's a hassle, and batteries can get lost. They'd much prefer a device that just lasts the whole day.

But that precludes the idea of simply having an extended battery. If the RAZR's battery were removable, that would be a viable option.

That would defeat the purpose of the Razr. "Here, buy this super thin phone! And if you want a bigger battery, here's a 5 inch thick extended!"

The cool thing about the Maxx, is how big the battery is while maintaining the thin aspect. Sure it's not the thinnest phone out there, but it's the thinnest phone with an "extended" battery.

I had the Bionic with the extended battery, and I specifically burned an upgrade to get the Maxx because I LOVED the Bionic, but I wished I could get the same battery life in a thinner phone. Then along comes the Maxx and it was exactly what I was looking for. And I know i'm not the only one who went that route.

Add in the fact that they've squeezed all that tech into a much smaller package and I'm impressed. It's nice to see a smaller phone that doesn't really compromise when it comes to specs.

I came from having a Nexus S 4G.. I carried two batteries with me at a time. I even at one time had a butt-ugly extended battery. The phone locked up alllll the time, and I had to do battery pulls regularly.

The Razr/Maxx are built right- they rarely freeze up (mine NEVER has in the month+ that I've owned it), and they are more water/dust tight than my Nexus S 4G.

It's a matter of personal preference, and it's still a fact that most typical users couldn't care less if the battery was removable or not. They just want it to work, and last long.

A phone with a 4.3 inch screen that's barely bigger than an iPhone 4S? The size is going to be perfect for a lot of people. Some are going to assume that at 4.3 inches, the RAZR M is going to be a large phone.

yeah EXACTLY! I LOVED the Bionic, and I really didn't want to get rid of it. But with the extended battery AND a case it was just a little too thick. And that's coming from someone who actually prefers a heavy, well built phone. So thickness generally doesn't deter me when picking a phone. But the Maxx just had such a killer battery in such a thin chassis that I had to give it a run. With a TPU case, it's PERFECT for me.

Its not necessary. The only reason the S4 has it is because touch wiz is a bloated mess. Motorolas skin, being almost stock, doesn't need 2 gigs of ram.

It's barely bigger then my Fascinate. And that makes it a perfect size for me. I have looked at the droid maxx and the GS3 since my upgrade is due at the end of the month, and I just don't like the physical size of the hardware.

The s3 has two gigs because of touch wiz. Most other phones without touch wiz (or with a lightweight skin like these phones) do not need two gigs.

I would like more RAM.. I think any good new phone should come with 2GB. On any phone just like on Windows, more RAM is better.. It would allow more multitasking and allow your applications list to be in cached most of the time.

Except it doesn't. The way android works, unused ram is wasted. You will not notice any performance difference whatsoever between one and two gb of ram on an android phone.

ok for everyone talking about how the s3 NEEDS the memory because of how bloated TW is why then did the international s3 only get 1gig ?? not only that but why does everybody get so defensive about a phone ? if samsung can put out the s3 with 2gigs no reason moto cant do the same . sure you may not need it now but who knows what apps or games may be availible a year from now . furthermore i would bet that in a year from now moto will be releasing phones with 2gigs of ram . mean while samsung will be at 3 or 4 gigs of ram . just like i bet the camera on this phone will still be subpar compared to everything else out there . sure moto has great build and radio's but there no longer head and shoulders better than everyone else . and yes ive owned the maxx and the X and most of the rest and compared the maxx head to head with the rezound and the s3. the maxx and the rezound was basically a tie in the signal dept while the s3 was just slightly behind . this was in a major fring area. i gave up on moto a while back there stuff is really no better than anybody else anymore . now flame away!
