Moto's Bionic is Dead?

Gee, CK, FUD much? Why am I suspicious of you? Hmm, maybe because you only joined a couple days of ago and most of your posts have concentrated on questioning the Bionic's release entirely or supposed issues based on what you view to be impeccable sources citing "rumors." You could be legit, but I could swear I smell an Apple pie burning.

Regardless, for everyone else here (and perhaps even you CK), I sent the following in to Android Central over a week ago and was surprised they never reported it. Makes more sense than anything else. It's dated April 4th.

Now this is probably the first news I feel comfortable hanging my hat on. Why? Because it comes from investors that care about returns, and aren't phone geeks like us.

I'm not happy about the delay either. At CES, I wanted to nudge the people by the Thunderbolt and say, "Hey, go check out Motorola's booth. " My dInc sucks up juice like Lindsay Logan.... well.... sucks up juice. But, I can wait for the Bionic. Or at least for the next dual-core 4th Android device with good battery life.

They probably killed it so they can release the Droidx2.

Doubtful. They are very different phones. The X2 has no ffc, no 4g. If they scrap the Bionic there will still be an X2 and a 4g device.

I'm new here, but word around my water cooler is that the name is not dead while the id may be. It is very possible we'll see a Bionic but the hardware may vary from the original. Rumor still has it with a dual core and LTE.

Fair assesment Sharon because you don't know me : )

I was a member/Mod/sMod/Admin at another Android site for almost 2 years and have since left. While new here my forum madness spans many years. I can assure you I am not an Apple Pie lover. In regards to the "sources" at HoFo I challenge you or anyone for that matter to check out their record and you will see it is impeccable. These guys don't EVER drop bad info. I don't want to defend them here because it's really quite pointless. People believe what they want to believe but if you do a little homework and research who they are and check out their track record you will see their leaks/info are ALWAYS accurate. I knew and a lot of others knew about the Bionic (Etna) all the way back mid '10.

Where do you think the leak from the Targa came from? The above document you just posted about the reported problems with the Bionic is old news. I was aware of that several weeks ago. Why? wnrussell and winston. The list goes on and on.

This is why I posted the info here. I have complete trust in the info they provide. Also if you noticed it went viral fairly quickly. That doesn't happen unless sources are well respected and trusted. With that said don't take my word for anything I just said check them out and see for yourself.

Lots of **** here going on, and man i have not visited this site in ages. For the Record...TBH called this 3 months ago..way ahead of the curve. It is but official as of today. The bionic is done. There are multiple unresolved issues and they are insurmountable. Look forward to the Targa.

what more do you need to see before you believe that the Bionic could very possibly be dead. 7 pages of argueing sources reliability when they both have confirmed issues!!! i love it!

It's been said before in one the of the other dead bionic threads, I would much rather drop the money on a well built solid device then some half baked p.O.S.

They would have to announce that it has been canceled. If they just let it sit out there, it will affect their stock for a much greater period of time, as opposed to a brief drop.

BMX's post didn't indicate anything he hasn't already said. Earlier in that thread he said Verizon wouldn't cancel the phone, and that the reason these rumors were coming up was because they had released the Bionic to a much larger testing group.

The rumors are coming from one site (two users) and were not supported by any other sources. It is big news if its true, so why has no other site reported this? If its true, why has the Bionic not been scrubbed from Motorola's site?

The information pointing to the Bionic still being alive outweighs the rumors pointing to its demise. Is it possible its been canceled? Yes, it is. Is it probable? Not in the slightest.

so from the above post you are not getting that he absolutely believes it is possible and is looking for confirmation? wow! im not sure what to say back to that. i think you must have blinders on.

also what he said earlier in the same thread doesnt really matter, as is the case most of the time. as more information is obtained and progresses, it is usually the more recent information that is more important!

the Bionic is a cancelled device as far as I know but that doesn't mean it won't make the market either. Simply puy think the Thunderbolt and the mess that it creates. Nothing mroe from me on this than that. If or when I hear it's back on I will post again. as of last week it was cancelled and the development went towards the targa

Remember the Bolt had a different name ( think HD) and was 3G only... now look at it and final hardware and the delays and the awful battery life and the lte data issues.... just saying the Bionic had some of those issues


Also remember the Atrix is slated for VZW Q4 and is a very close device to the Bionic.... why would 2 devices be needed ?

For The Most part Miami and BMX has been on point!!!

Think how much it will cost moto if this is true? When I bought my xoom on launch day it was supposed to have lte coming soon.. if its the tegra chipset it won't work with that's a really big deal. It means they owe me something .. me and everyone else who bought one...

I wonder if people on the Titanic refused to believe it was sinking. "This ship is too huge to sink!" "I'll wait until I hear from the company that built the ship before I believe anything" "I'm waiting to hear from the Guy in the engine room !"

This is nothing to be shocked about. It happens and it will happen again and again and again. This is not out of the ordinary. Once that's understood and accepted its easier to see the whole picture.

I get hopped up and excited about a great phone like the next Guy and I understand people don't want to believe something they have waited for and talked endlessly about has been canceled. It sucks. I get that. But here we are.

Keep in mind though nobody has said that the Droid Bionic concept has been abandoned. Something will come along and take it's place. I don't see it being a huge departure from what we all know. Maybe a different processor? More ram? Who knows. Maybe they take the Bionic shell and outfit it with all new hardware. Perhaps they scrap the entire project and push the Targa as the Bionic. Possible they just ditch the Bionic name altogether and come out with a whole new Droid name. Nobody is saying at this point. The only thing that is certain is that a handset will take its place and it will work as it's supposed to.

I say there is no use getting upset and mad over a problem we have no control over. It is what it is. We will survive. Its just a silly phone.
