MOTO's official Bionic page is down...?

I don't want to wait 2-4 months to find out what the specs are just to see that the phone isn't what I was hoping for. But as I stated previously the only other option I believe I would have is T-Mobile's GSII or Sensation.
The other thing I fear is that the Bionic/targa is going to be released at the end of august and there will be a bunch of rumors that a quadcore phone will be released in December/January. Whats the chance of that happening?

There will always be better phones coming... I am getting a Dual Core phone... If the Targa/Bionic comes in August I will get it no matter if they mention the release of a Quad core phone. I would rather have a Dual core phone for 2 years then a Single core..

If you start waiting on a quad core then you will be end up never getting a device because you are going to keep waiting on the latest and greatest. At one point you are going to have to bite the bullet and settle on a device even though you know in another few months something more exciting is probably coming out.

I look at it like this, single core phones are probably going to go strong for probably another year, it's just doubtful they will last much longer as dual core phones will be standard and quad cores will likely start coming out. Dual cores at the moment are much more than we need at this time, we won't see features taking advantage for at least a little while, when Ice Cream is released. Quad cores are likely going to be true overkill for a while. A dual core now should probably last you two years without any issues assuming you decide to not switch phones until you can upgrade again. That is why I'm waiting on the Bionic or potentially the SII, should that come out for Verizon and either before or around the release of the Bionic.

Tech is something you just look for "Good Enough". Dual core is good enough for now. Just because something is better does not mean that you have to wait. I personally recently just got a DX and I am still playing with it and having fun. It helps the wait (compared to when I had the Tour). Just decide on one device and get it. Anything else will give you an ulcer.

Just because another device will come out that is better does not make your device any worse. It just means that even better devices will be avalible when you get your next upgrade.

The DX is a Great Device!!! I never had any problems with it.. I gave it to my wife to use her upgrade from November. Using the Storm1 now. I might buy another DX to hold me over until the Targa/Bionic is released..

That is what I am saying it will be The phone I want and will be happy with for 2 years not one I settled for because I could not wait.

No disrespect but are you sure you will be happy with for two years with quad-core phones dropping by the end of the year?

Edit: Nevermind me. I didn't get any sleep last night. Sorry.

For better or worse phones and mobile technology is in a period of rapid evolution. The only real knowns is the phone in your hand is already obsolete and the one you're buying will soon be.

When computers hit these phases, the best strategy was to research your purchase thoroughly and select the CPU for the best bang for the buck and cross your fingers that it doesn't take a huge jump.

At this point it's hard to say whether quad core CPU's will be that much of a jump over the dual core. Yes, more is better but up to a certain point of diminishing returns and we don't know clearly where those lines are yet.

The only thing I do know is that the Bionic will be a massive leap in speed/power over my current D1 and it looks like it'll be a strong piece of hardware for at least the first year.

I understand!!! Yes because in 2 years I will be getting something better then quad core if there would be such a thing..:) If not I will have the latest Quad core phone... If you keep waiting because you heard or seen something leaking that is better then what you want you will never buy a phone because there will always be something better being released.

I for one would be more than happy with a dual-core regardless of when quad cores come out. I have a dual-core in my old Toshiba laptop and its still going strong. I'm infinitely happier with dual-core than single-core, yet quad-core isn't really that big of a draw for me yet. Once you learn what TDP means and how it must be shared between cores, you realize that more cores is NOT better until the software is optimized for them. Dual-core will help us with multitasking now, quad core would only help if you intentionally tried to load it down with more applications running at once than anyone ever needs. Yet the dual cores, and many single cores, would likely outperform it in single applications (assuming same architecture, A9, or A15). Until we see multi-threaded versions of the most intensive apps, I honestly don't see quad-core doing anything but hurting your battery life.
