Mount or Unmount

When I enter Settings> SD card & phone storage>

I have "Unmount SD card" and Unmount the SD card for safe removal in bright white and "Format SD card" Format (erase) the SD card grayed out.

If I select "Unmount SD card" it goes into "Unmounting" and unmounting in progress and nothing happens.

I can not select "Format SD card"

Does this make sense and is it normal?

you dont want to unmount your sd card if it is in use.

Why would you want to unmount your card other than formatting it their is no reason
