moveable box in camera

Excuse me if this has been asked already. I've had my X for about a week now (boy am I glad VZW agreed to give it to me instead of 2) and I had a question about the camera. I noticed that when I go to take a picture, there is that box in the middle. Playing around, I noticed that I could move the box. What does that do?

Allows you to pick the area of the picture that you want the most focus on.
